The Covering House serves children and teens who have experienced sex trafficking or exploitation.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Working closely with the Director of Development, the Donor Engagement Manager supports overall development efforts including nurturing relationships with donors and sharing the mission through timely, professional, and heart-felt communications. Communication methods include phone calls, face-to-face visits, mail, and emails with the goals of thanking, sharing impact, and requesting financial or in-kind support. The Donor Engagement Manager will communicate regularly with current and potential supporters of The Covering House including individuals, corporations, faith-based groups, and foundations. Additionally, the Donor Engagement Manager will work on various administrative and marketing tasks including managing the donor database and tax credit programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Donor Engagement Manager will be responsible for, including, but not limited to:

Donor Development
• Monthly and small to mid-size donors
o Nurture donor relationships including through phone calls, face-to-face visits, mail, emails, and in-person events
• Ensure donors are acknowledged in a timely manner through phone calls and letters
• Assist DOD
o Annual fundraising strategy
o Annual appeal
o Annual Report
• Analyze donor data to inform strategy development and goal achievement
• Maintain accurate and timely records of donor communications and interactions

Marketing and Communication
• Assist DOD with marketing and communication plan and related tasks as needed.

Marketing and Communication
• Assist DOD with marketing and communication plan and related tasks as needed. Tasks may include:
o Create or update brochures, presentation slides, and other TCH promotional material
o Work with print shops and graphic designers for materials such as annual reports, annual appeal, etc.
o Plan and create social media posts

Development Administration
• Engage in Development Department meetings
• Manage donor database Funraise (database)
o Organize and import data from third-party platforms
o Create fundraising pages for events and campaigns
• Manage Tax Credit Programs
o Organize applications, ensure all appropriate documentation is included, and submit to the Department of Social Services

Events and Public Speaking
• Assist with the annual spring gala: Dine for Dignity
• Assist with small group events: cocktail parties, luncheons, third-party events etc.
o Provide presentations in the community, including Trafficking 101, overview of The Covering House, etc. Decision Making and Problem Solving
• Provide overall constructive contributions to maintain a positive working environment
• Access available resources, such as assistance of supervisor and teammates, in decision making
• Critical thinking and judgment: ability to develop smart, workable solutions to challenges as they arise
• Value and employ creativity in problem solving

Communication
• Maintain effective, positive, and professional communication with colleagues, clients, and donors
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues
• Maintain appropriate boundaries (including physical, emotional, personal, and professional boundaries) with colleagues, clients, and donors
• Submit all necessary reports to supervisor on a timely basis
• Accepts direction with desire to learn and make timely adjustments as needed.
• Timeliness and dependable attendance in the office, meetings, training, and other events

OTHER DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS
• Assist with staff shortages as needed in the residential home
• Must remain current on all required training
• Attend staff trainings on topics including trauma-informed care and suicide prevention

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in donor development preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in Office Tools
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Growth mindset, eagerness to learn and improve
• Ability to multi-task with a high level of output, detail, and accuracy
• A passion for and commitment to the mission of providing safety, dignity, and freedom for sexually exploited and trafficked children and teens
• High emotional intelligence, integrity, trustworthiness, and honesty
• Ability to work well independently and on a team; self-starter
• Demonstrate knowledge of The Covering House mission and programs
• Represent The Covering House in a positive and professional manner
• Ability to maintain the highest confidentiality
• May not have a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect
