Pathways to Independence

EMD is proud to support Pathways to Independence in the search for their next Executive Director.

Pathways is a highly respected nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through social connection, skill building, and community engagement. The organization helps people who are too often overlooked find belonging, build confidence, and develop meaningful friendships and opportunities.

With a strong reputation and deep community trust, Pathways is poised for its next chapter of thoughtful, sustainable growth.

Pathways operates with a talented team of 10 full time and nine part time staff, serving more than 235 participants on an annual budget of $1.2 million. The organization is known for its mission focus, effective program model, and healthy, supportive workplace culture.

Demand for services continues to rise, creating an opportunity to expand impact while preserving the personal, welcoming approach that defines the organization. The next Executive Director will build on this solid foundation with clarity, care, and strategic focus.

The Executive Director will serve as the face of the organization, providing both visionary leadership and hands on operational oversight. This role balances big picture strategy with direct management of key functions, including budgeting, financial oversight, human resources, and systems. The Executive Director will lead fundraising and donor stewardship efforts, strengthen community partnerships, and work closely with the Board of Directors to advance long term sustainability. Above all, this leader will cultivate a collaborative, transparent culture that empowers staff and reinforces shared accountability.

The ideal candidate will be a relationship oriented, mission driven leader who thrives in a small, agile environment. Strong financial and business acumen, operational confidence, and demonstrated fundraising success are essential. Experience in the I/DD field is valued, along with a genuine commitment to learning and advocacy.

This position offers a starting salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 plus excellent benefits, and represents a meaningful opportunity to lead an organization that changes lives every day.
