The Women's Safe House
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Development Manager is a key leadership role within The Women’s Safe House development team and supports all aspects of the Development Department. Under the direction of the Director of Development and Advancement, the Development Manager leads and manages a portfolio of mid-level donors and corporate partners; oversees mid-level giving and monthly giving initiatives; Executes fundraising and external events; and manages all marketing and communications efforts that advance TWSH’s fundraising and engagement goals. This position supervises the Development Specialist and provides leadership for the Young Professionals Board. The Development Manager serves as an ambassador for TWSH within the community.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsibilities to include but are not limited to the following:
1. Donor Management & Engagement
- Manage and cultivate a portfolio of mid-level individual donors, including solicitation, stewardship, and relationship-building
- Facilitate donor discovery meetings and ongoing engagement opportunities
- Lead recruitment, engagement, and stewardship of the monthly giving society
- Serve as staff liaison and provide leadership to the Young Professionals Board
- Develop and maintain donor cultivation pipelines and individualized engagement plans
- Produce dashboards and strategic reports to track donor engagement, fundraising progress, and outcomes
- Provide oversight of donor systems, reporting, and data integrity
2. Corporate & Community Partnerships
- Implement a comprehensive corporate and community partnership strategy under the guidance of the Director of Development and Advancement
- Cultivate and steward corporate partners through sponsorships, volunteer engagement, and community-based initiatives
- Support conversion of corporate volunteer engagement into financial support and long-term partnerships
- Represent TWSH at community events, corporate meetings, and speaking engagements to cultivate donors, sponsors, and partnerships
- Maintain corporate partnership pipelines and track engagement outcomes
3. Fundraising Events Strategy & Oversight
- Oversee planning and execution of up to three major fundraising events annually, as well as select stewardship and donor recruitment events
- Provide oversight and direction for event logistics and coordination
- Monitor event performance, committee + donor engagement, and return on investment (ROI)
- Support donor-facing event experiences and relationship-building opportunities
4. Marketing & Communications
- Lead marketing and communications to support fundraising, donor engagement, and community awareness
- Develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan in alignment with development goals
- Create and manage communications, appeals, and promotional materials
- Manage and update the organization’s website
- Manage social platforms including content creation, with strategic oversight and guidance from the Director of Development and Advancement
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all development platforms
SUPERVISION & DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP
- Supervise and support the Development Specialist, providing guidance, delegation, and performance feedback
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Development and Advancement
- Manage work management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) to track priorities, timelines, and deliverables
- Participate in organizational committees and cross-departmental initiatives as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent professional experience
- 4–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, marketing/communications, or related field
- Demonstrated experience managing donor portfolios and donor relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a donor-centered approach
- Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Commitment to TWSH’s mission, values, and trauma-informed work with survivors
- Prior supervisory experience
Preferred
- Experience managing fundraising events and sponsorships
- Experience with fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and reporting tools
- Experience managing website content and social media platforms for fundraising purposes

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Office environment
- Occasional evening/weekend work for events
- Ability to lift/move up to 20lbs occasionally for event logistics
- Ability to manage emotionally sensitive subject matter with professionalism
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary range: $56,000-$58,000 Annually
