Mission

To empower girls to embrace a strong sense of self. Unlike any other organization, GITK does this through a variety of programs, including a four-part Empowerment Workshop Series led by licensed female professionals in their field delivered to pre-teen girls and trusted adults. GITK strives to be the first step in the journey through adolescence.  We are focused on growing our programs and expanding our reach.

Job Purpose

The Development & Communications Coordinator supports the growth and sustainability of Girls in the Know by coordinating fundraising systems, donor communications, and engagement activities.

This role supports the Executive Director in strengthening donor stewardship, maintaining accurate development systems, assisting with fundraising events and campaigns, and communicating the impact of GITK programs to donors, partners, and the broader community.

The Development & Communications Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Program Director, marketing consultants, grant consultants, and board members to ensure consistent messaging, organized development operations, and meaningful engagement with supporters.

Duties and Responsibilities

Development Operations and Donor Stewardship

●       Maintain and manage donor records within the Bloomerang CRM system

●       Ensure timely and thoughtful acknowledgment of gifts and donor communications

●       Assist with donor cultivation activities, including scheduling meetings and preparing donor materials

●       Draft donor communications including appeals, stewardship messages, invitations, and impact updates

●       Track development activity and assist in preparing development reports for leadership and board meetings.

●       Assist with coordination of annual fundraising campaigns and initiatives

●       Support planning and execution of GITK signature events including the Let’s Hear It for the Girls Brunch and Empowerment Summit

●       Manage event registration tracking and sponsor communication support

●       Assist with donor stewardship and follow-up related to events and campaigns

●       Provide support for third-party fundraising events hosted by community partners

●       Maintain organized development calendars and campaign timelines

●       Ensure donor records and reporting data remain accurate and current

●       Assist with preparation of materials for donor meetings, board development reports, and fundraising initiatives

Grants Coordination and Impact Communication

●       Collaborate with the Grant Consultant to gather data and documentation needed for grant proposals and reporting

●       Maintain grant tracking timelines and submission deadlines

●       Work with the Program Director to communicate program outcomes and impact for funders and donors.

Communications and Storytelling

●       Draft and coordinate content for newsletters, donor communications, and email campaigns

●       Assist with website updates to reflect current campaigns, programs, and events

●       Support social media messaging in collaboration with the Marketing Consultant

●       Help capture and organize stories that highlight program impact and community partnerships

Desired Qualifications

●       Passion for GITK’s mission and programs with the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health.

●       Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field preferred

●       Minimum of two years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, marketing, or related work

●       Strong written and verbal communication skills

●       Experience working with donor databases or CRM systems preferred

●       Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

●       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small nonprofit team

●       Possess a valid driver’s license and have use of an insured motor vehicle.

Working Conditions

●       Full-Time hours, participation in evening and weekend meetings and events will be required as needed. Flexible work environment with a hybrid work schedule.

Compensation

●       Salary is commensurate with experience. Salary range is $48,500-$52,000 per year.
