Community Engagement Manager

Foster Together supports and equips children and families impacted by foster care. Our vision is to see foster parents supported to provide the best possible care for vulnerable children. Foster Together comes alongside foster, kinship, at-risk, and reunifying families—providing essential items and creating a space where people feel seen and cared for during what can often be a hard and uncertain time.

About This Role
This position serves as a key connection between the community and the daily operations of the boutique, particularly through the coordination and support of volunteer groups. Responsibilities include welcoming and engaging community, church, and corporate groups while fostering an experience that is meaningful, organized, and encouraging of continued involvement.

A primary focus of the role is cultivating and maintaining strong community relationships through thoughtful follow-up communication, volunteer appreciation, and ongoing engagement with the mission of the organization.

This position works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support daily operations, assist where needed, and help ensure a positive and supportive experience for both volunteers and the families served.

Key Responsibilities
Community & Volunteer Engagement (Primary Focus)
– Coordinate and schedule volunteer groups serving in the boutique
– Welcome volunteer groups and provide guidance to ensure a positive and engaging experience
– Foster meaningful volunteer experiences that encourage long-term involvement and connection to the mission
– Conduct follow-up communication, including thank you notes and ongoing engagement efforts
– Build and maintain relationships with churches, businesses, and community organizations
– Help establish consistent community engagement practices that strengthen volunteer retention and support

Donor Engagement & Follow-Up
– Assist in building and maintaining relationships with donors and community partners
– Prepare thank you notes and support donor follow-up efforts
– Communicate with donors regarding contributions, current needs, and partnership opportunities
– Coordinate visits and engagement opportunities for donors and volunteer groups

Boutique & Volunteer Support
– Work collaboratively with volunteers to support boutique operations
– Support shopping appointments to ensure families feel welcomed, respected, and cared for
– Provide operational support and assist in resolving day-to-day needs as they arise
– Maintain a presence during current walk-in shopping hours (Wednesdays and Fridays), with flexibility for occasional evenings and special events as organizational needs grow

Storytelling & Communication Support
– Assist in capturing meaningful stories and moments that reflect the impact of the organization’s work
– Share stories in a thoughtful and respectful manner that honors the experiences of the families served

Qualifications & Desired Skills
– Three or more years of experience in nonprofit work, volunteer coordination, customer service, communications, or a related field
– Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create welcoming and positive experiences for others
– Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
– Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing needs
– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Passion for serving children and families impacted by foster care
– Strong administrative skills

Position Details
– Part-time position, 15–20 hours per week
– Availability required during current open days (Wednesdays and/or Fridays), with flexibility for occasional evenings and events
– Opportunity for expanded availability and responsibilities as the organization continues to grow
