In support of our mission, LifeWise Academy team members develop relationships with young people and offer academic support, enrichment activities, social support, and resources to help students mitigate potential barriers to their success. As the LifeWise Academy staff, we are dedicated to nurturing each teen student’s potential, fostering their resilience, and preparing them for post-secondary success through the implementation of academic enrichment, social-emotional support, life skills, and job readiness activities during a critical period of their development.

Position Description:

LifeWise STL is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to work with youth ages 11-18 who participate in Young Scholars or LifeWise Academy (our middle and high school programs). In addition, there may be a few young adults (ages 18-30) from our Academy Alumni Programs that may be interested in individual counseling services. An ideal candidate will be well-versed in trauma-informed care, crisis interventions, understand the complexities of youth development, and be willing to meet with youth on-site and at their respective schools. The candidate should be available to work Monday through Thursday 11am7pm, and Fridays 9am-5pm, contingent on part-time/full-time status.

Qualifications:

• Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker OR Licensed Professional Counselor registered with the State of Missouri. • Minimum of one year experience in social services, particularly with one-on-one case management experience or counseling experience in or out of a school setting. • Minimum of one year experience in providing therapeutic services for youth and/or families. • Excellent organizational skills and must be detailed oriented. • Excellent speaking, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.  •Flexibility and willingness to adapt role as needed, especially as the program evolves. • Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative environment. • Must be able to work independently and work with minimal supervision. • Able to adhere to confidentiality laws and handle sensitive information. • Provide ethical and sound judgment when advocating and serving clients in need. • Experience working with underserved and diverse populations. • Ability to work a flexible schedule and non-traditional hours. • Skilled at taking initiative, problem solving and working independently.

Essential Functions:

• Provide trauma-informed screening, assessment and treatment of referred clients. • Provide individual and group counseling (as appropriate). • Maintain communication with parents as confidentiality allows. • Facilitate weekly 1-hour enrichment classes focused on Social and Emotional Learning principles or related mental health topics. • Complete and maintain all required documentation in a regular, timely manner and in accordance with policies. • Update and report accurate data for the purpose of ensuring data integrity and outcomedriven programming. •Participate in staff meetings, program meetings, strategic planning, and other community meetings as required. • Attend required trainings and recommended professional development and networking opportunities to advance personal and organizational capacity. • Stay up to date on emerging best practices in the field. •Other duties as assigned.
