The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a part-time Guest Service Staff opening. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.

The Guest Service Staff position is typically scheduled 2-4 shifts per month. Available shifts are currently at our West County House (300 Ronald McDonald House Lane, St. Louis, MO 63141), however, all Guest Service Staff will be cross-trained to be able to work a shift at our Grove House (4321 Chouteau Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110) if needed.

  • Shifts at the West County House will be:
    • Saturday: 6:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-9:00pm
    • Sunday: 6:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-9:00pm
  • Additional weekday shifts available on occasion at either location.
  • Holiday shifts on a rotational basis, available at either location

Basic qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 19 years of age
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Customer service experience in working with families, volunteers, customers, or general public
  • Ability to respond to and handle emergency and conflict situations
  • Ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be able to work independently

Essential Functions

  • Works to create a comfortable, supportive environment for guest families
  • Prepares for arriving families
  • Gives House tours to returning families, donors, guests and groups
  • Assist with stocking supplies and general housekeeping tasks (i.e. unloading dishwashers, taking out trash, wiping tables, etc.)
  • Receives and documents payments for lodging
  • Accepts and documents in-kind and/or monetary donations
  • Front desk / reception – Greets and assists visitors, answers phones and doors
  • Respond to, communicate and document incidents and emergency situations
  • Assists meal groups, service groups and House volunteers as needed
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • In-person

Physical Demands 
Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 25 lbs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 4 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
