Development Manager
Agency Summary: Food Outreach is a nonprofit, founded in 1988, that provides Medically Tailored Meals and nutrition services to enhance the quality of life of individuals living with HIV or cancer. The organization covers 150 Missouri and Illinois zip codes encompassing seven counties. Our services are unduplicated in Missouri and western Illinois.

Primary Purpose: Food Outreach is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to serve as Development Manager. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Development Department, ensuring fundraising systems, donor stewardship, grants administration, communications, reporting, and development projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The Development Manager serves as the primary owner of the organization’s donor database and provides critical support to fundraising initiatives that advance Food Outreach’s mission.
Development Operations and Donor Services (40%)
• Serve as primary administrator and owner of the organization’s CRM/database
• Maintain accurate donor, volunteer, corporate and foundation records
• Generate donor, campaign and fundraising reports for staff, leadership and Board committees
• Process gifts and serve as backup for gift entry and donation processing
• Produce donor acknowledgments and stewardship activities
• Maintain donor records, mailing lists and fundraising dashboards
• Manage Missouri Food Pantry Tax Credit and Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit administration
• Ensure data integrity, record accuracy and compliance with donor confidentiality standards
• Conduct prospect research on individual, corporate and foundation donors
Grants and Fundraising Support (30%)
• Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
• Complete and submit straightforward grant applications
• Manage grant reporting schedules and ensure timely submission of reports
• Track sponsorship commitments, benefits and fulfillment
• Coordinate direct mail appeals and fundraising campaign logistics
• Assist with donor segmentation, campaign reporting and fundraising analysis
• Support special events and fundraising activities as assigned
• Maintain development calendars and project timelines
Communications and Marketing (20%)
• Update and maintain website content
• Coordinate and schedule social media content across platforms
• Assist in the creation of marketing materials and fundraising communications
• Coordinate and distribute e-newsletters
• Ensure consistency of organizational branding and messaging
• Assist with photography, content collection and storytelling efforts as needed
Department Administration and Reporting (10%)
• Prepare monthly development reports and fundraising summaries
• Monitor departmental goals, timelines and project progress
• Assist with Board and committee materials related to fundraising
• Maintain organized records of grants, sponsorships and donor communications
• Support the Director of Development with strategic initiatives and special projects
• Help ensure all development projects remain on schedule and moving forward
Position Qualifications and Skills:
• Master of Public Administration (MPA) preferred, or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 2 years of nonprofit development, fundraising, public administration or related experience
• Experience working with donor databases/CRM systems required
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of Office 365 (Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms, etc.)
• Experience with grant writing, grant reporting or grant administration preferred
• Experience with website management, email marketing and social media platforms preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Detail-oriented, organized and able to work independently

Position Time Schedule: This is a full-time position governed by personnel policies related to full-time staff.
This person is directed/supervised and evaluated by the Director of Development.
Special Requirements
• Ability to take on additional tasks as assigned and required by organizational needs
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as well as have reliable transportation
