The National Museum of Transportation

Manager of Guest Services (Part-Time, 24–32 Hours Per Week)
Creative. Organized. Welcoming. If you love retail – buying and merchandising – and greeting guests from around the world, this may be a perfect opportunity for you.

The National Museum of Transportation is seeking a creative retail visionary to lead our small Boxcar Boutique Gift Shop while serving as the familiar face of our Welcome Desk.  You’ll purchase and merchandise unique gift shop items, decorate for holidays and special events, greet visitors from around the world, and oversee the daily operation of our Welcome Desk.

This position also supervises a small guest services team, manages admissions, memberships, daily sales and deposits, and helps ensure our Welcome Desk operates smoothly, efficiently, and with exceptional customer service.

Every day is different—from helping families create lifelong memories to designing eye-catching retail displays and seasonal décor. If you enjoy working with people, have an eye for merchandising, and thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment, we’d love to meet you.

Qualifications

Retail buying and merchandising experience.
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Experience leading or supervising a small team.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

We believe the right person is out there. For more than 15 years, this position has been held by someone who cared deeply about our guests, our Museum, and our mission. We’re excited to find the next person who will bring that same dedication while adding their own creativity and personality to the role.

Enjoy a consistent part-time schedule of approximately 24–32 hours per week, typically including three full weekdays until about 4:00 p.m. and one half-day each week. Weekend hours are infrequent and generally limited to special Museum events.

If interested, please send a cover letter and resume to museum@tnmot.org by Friday, July 24.
