Unleashing Potential is a 501(c)(3) that works to close the opportunity gap for children and youth by building on their strengths. We create educational and empowering experiences through out-of-school programs, youth development and enrichment camps, and family engagement events.
Position Overview
The Director of Strengthening Resilient Families provides leadership and supervision to the Associate Director of Strengthening Resilient Families and departmental support staff while fostering collaboration across programs and with community partners. The Director oversees program planning, implementation, staff development, quality improvement, grant compliance, performance measurement, and outcome evaluation to ensure services are evidence-informed, responsive to community needs, and aligned with Unleashing Potential’s mission, values, and strategic plan.

Duties/Responsibilities
Program-Related:
Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and execute the strategic vision, goals, and priorities for the Strengthening Resilient Families (SRF) department
Co- facilitates with the Program Evaluation & Continuous Quality Improvement consultant on the design, implementation, and evaluation of the SRF department’s logic model and performance measurement framework, establishing meaningful metrics to demonstrate program impact and outcomes
Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to SRF staff, ensuring the effective delivery of evidence-informed family support services, educational programming, and community-based initiatives
Oversees the development and implementation of family engagement strategies that promote consistent participation, positive outcomes, and continuity of care
Ensures high-quality, family-centered services by monitoring program effectiveness, participant engagement, and adherence to organizational and funding requirements
Serves as a liaison with community partners, schools, and service providers to strengthen collaborative relationships and expand resources available to families
Oversees the planning and implementation of workshops, support groups, educational sessions, and special events that address the needs of children and families
Ensures the systems established for collecting, analyzing, and utilizing participant feedback and outcome data to support continuous quality improvement and program enhancement is adhered to
Directs resource coordination efforts to connect families with internal and external services that address identified needs and promote long-term stability
Ensures staff partner with families to develop and monitor Family Partnership Agreements that build on family strengths, establish goals, and support self-sufficiency
Promotes family resilience by ensuring programs provide access to resources, education, and opportunities that strengthen parenting, increase self-sufficiency, and improve overall well-being
Maintains a direct service caseload or participant engagement activities, as needed, to support program operations and remain informed of emerging family and community needs
Manager responsibilities:
Provides leadership, supervision, and performance management for SRF staff, including goal setting, coaching, annual performance evaluations, recognition, corrective action, and professional development
Partners with Human Resources to recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain a high-performing and diverse team that supports the mission and goals of the Strengthening Resilient Families department
Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide coaching, performance feedback, support professional growth, and monitor progress toward departmental and individual goals
Fosters a culture of open communication, collaboration, accountability, and inclusion, ensuring staff feel valued, supported, and engaged
Develops and implements strategies to promote employee engagement, strengthen team cohesion, and improve staff retention
Builds leadership capacity within the department by mentoring staff, identifying succession opportunities, and supporting career development
Creates a positive, high-performing work environment that encourages innovation, continuous learning, and excellence in service delivery
Administrative responsibilities:
Oversees the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive community resource network, ensuring staff and families have access to current and relevant resources
Ensures compliance with organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements through oversight of program documentation, screenings, service delivery, and follow-up activities
Leads the planning and implementation of an annual calendar of parent engagement, education, and family empowerment initiatives that align with departmental goals and community needs
Oversees the development and distribution of family resource materials, including community resource guides, educational publications, and ongoing communications to support family success
Monitors program performance and service delivery through the review of participant engagement, family outcomes, and documentation to ensure quality, consistency, and continuity of care
Collaborates with organizational leadership to establish program benchmarks, performance metrics, grant deliverables, and outcome reporting that demonstrate program effectiveness and impact
Ensures accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of services, participant interactions, referrals, and community partnerships in accordance with organizational policies and funding requirements
Performs other duties and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives
Education/Job Experience/Other Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work or a related field preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience leading family support, community-based, behavioral health, education, or human services programs
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience, including coaching, performance management, and staff development
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based or family-centered programs
Experience establishing program goals, performance measures, and outcomes to support continuous quality improvement and grant or contract reporting
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family engagement, positive youth development, case management, and community resource coordination
Experience with motivational interviewing and/or evidence-based family engagement practices preferred
Knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, and community resources.
Experience providing or overseeing clinical supervision

Work Environment/Conditions:
Performs work in a combination of office, program, and community settings, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer and other standard office equipment
Must be able to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and move throughout program and community locations as needed
Requires local travel between Unleashing Potential sites and community partner locations, with occasional out-of-town travel for meetings, conferences, or professional development
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move materials weighing up to ten pounds
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Compensation and Benefits
The salary will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and education requirements. The minimum salary for this role starts at $68,000. Medical, dental, vision and additional benefits are available after 60 days of satisfactory employment.
Hours
Unleashing Potential’s administration core business hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
