Development and Communications Assistant

Rebuilding Together provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners who are seniors, veterans, or individuals with disabilities that increase their safety, comfort, and independence.

The Development and Communications Assistant works in a staff/volunteer team driven environment to raise funds and brand awareness to further the mission of Rebuilding Together St. Louis. As a visible external representative of the organization, the Development and Communications Assistant must enjoy connecting with others and sharing the mission of RTSTL. The ability to manage time, prioritize projects and work independently will be critical to the success of this entry-level role.

Position Duties:

Communications

  • Prepare and monitor quarterly communications plans for RTSTL, incorporating key messaging that aligns with organizational priorities, values and strategies
  • Maintain the RTSTL website, including creating content and recommending standards for content management
  • Coordinate RTSTL digital communications including social media, e-newsletters, and online giving campaigns; develop, execute and evaluate digital marketing efforts
  • Participate in “tabling” events related to fundraising and marketing
  • Develop and maintain RTSTL marketing assets including digital and printed photos, Canva templates, videos, printed materials, “SWAG” and other marketing collateral

Fund Raising and Events

  • Ensure accuracy in donor record keeping systems; track all funder contact information and donation history through Salesforce
  • Support the successful planning and execution of special events such as Trivia Night and the Rebuilder Celebration
  • Oversee fundraising mailings such as the annual appeal and corporate letters
  • Ensure timely and accurate gift acknowledgement, donor recognition and stewardship of all donations
  • Execute online and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns
  • Server as liaison to the RTSTL Development Board and provide support for their fundraising efforts

Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management or related degree preferred
  • Knowledge of social media and website content management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience using database technology is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Application Information:

The position is currently funded for up to 14 months with the goal of making it a permanent position.  Position is office-based and includes occasional required evening and weekend hours.  Competitive benefits including paid time off, medical and dental coverage are available.
