Healing Action Network

Executive Director

Healing Action Network is seeking a mission-grounded, operationally disciplined Executive Director to lead our next chapter of impact. This is a visible leadership role for someone who can move vision into action through strengthening systems and supporting a dedicated service team.

The Opportunity

This is a builder-leader role within a community-based organization. You’ll inherit a meaningful mission, an engaged board, and a committed team that has carried a significant load in service of the mission. The next Executive Director will bring clarity and energy to strengthen organizational infrastructure and ensure the staff team has the capacity and culture needed to do their best work.

What You’ll Lead

· Execute strategy: Partner with the board and staff to implement the strategic plan and achieve stated objectives.

· Finance & Operations: Manage a ~$2 million annual operating budget, strengthen financial controls, and report clearly to the board. Ensure policies, systems, and infrastructure support sustainable operations.

· Fundraising: Partner with the Director of Advancement to build a diversified revenue strategy across major gifts, grants, corporate support, events, and donor stewardship.

· Programming: Ensure high-quality mission delivery and use data to guide improvement and growth.

· External Relations: Serve as the public face of the organization, building trusted relationships with donors, funders, elected officials, partner agencies, civic leaders, and the broader community.

· People & Culture: Supervise and develop staff and key volunteers; strengthen communication, clarity, and accountability; and help create the capacity, support, and healthy culture needed for a highly committed direct service team to thrive.

· Board Partnership: Support governance and empower board members as ambassadors.

Who We’re Looking For

· Must: 8+ years progressive leadership in nonprofit or mission-driven settings; experience managing budgets and supervising staff.

· Must: Bachelor’s degree in public health, business, nonprofit management, or a related field.

· Must: Track record of translating strategy into measurable results and operational systems.

· Must: Strong financial acumen, excellent written and public communication skills, and ability to pass a background check, have valid driver’s license, and work in-office at our St. Louis location.

· Preferred: Fundraising experience (major gifts, grant writing, or donor stewardship).

· Preferred: Experience leading organizations through growth/transition and supporting staff in high-demand service environments.

· Preferred: Experienced working in trauma-informed community-based programs.

Compensation & Benefits

$80,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience. Fully paid medical/dental/vision/disability premiums from day one, 14 paid holidays, 23 days PTO, and paid sick time.
