Saint Louis MHB

St. Louis Mental Health Board of Trustees (MHB) is seeking an executive director following the announcement of the retirement of Jama Dodson at the end of June 2021.  The MHB Executive Director provides leadership to a team of 11 talented and committed staff members and 15 dedicated Trustees.  In concert with the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall performance of the organization in meeting statutory and board policy requirements as well as the fulfillment of the agency’s mission and strategic plan, which has a commitment to health equity. Specifically, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring excellence in the major functions of: Planning, Board Leadership, Staff Management, Funding/Grantmaking, Fiscal & Investment Management, Community Engagement, and Public Relations.

This position requires a Master’s degree in a field of study which prepares individuals for the administration of health and human services and/or public administration, plus a minimum of ten years supervisory and management experience.  Substantial experience with in a not-for-profit or government settings that provide funding or enter into contracts for services—such as foundations, city or state government or federated giving programs—is highly preferred. The candidate must be knowledgeable of human services delivery systems and the grant making and contracting process and must have an extensive history of working cooperatively and effectively with public and elected officials and not-for-profit agency personnel. The candidate should also be sensitive to and understand the diverse perspectives of stakeholders and promote equitable engagement in all areas of their work.
