The Mirowitz Center, located in mid – St. Louis County on the Millstone Campus, is a new concept where older adults can socialize with their peer group and find the resources and services they need to remain healthy, engaged and independent, including: medical care, cafe restaurant, classes, programs, entertainment, resources and services provided through collaborative organizations.
Job Responsibilities
The Center Director is the community ambassador for the Mirowitz Center. This full-time role works collaboratively with the senior management team to set strategy & direction for the Mirowitz Center. The Center Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to: oversight for strategic collaborations, engaging community program providers, maintaining the Mirowitz Center master programming calendar, serving as primary liaison with café management & ownership for the overall customer experience, engagement with and support for the Center’s fundraising initiatives. The Center Director is responsible for adhering to and managing the Center’s budget. Requires flexibility to support evening and weekend programming.
Program Planning & Implementation
1. Ensure programs offered include a balanced variety of categories e.g. Health & Wellness, Arts & Culture, Field Trips, Education Programs, etc.
2. Identify programmatic opportunities to advance the long-term strategic objectives of the Mirowitz Center
3. Work with the senior leadership team to develop & implement the marketing plan & support fundraising activities
4. Work in conjunction with special initiatives manager and with collaborative organizations, internal team and lay leadership to create the Mirowitz Center master programming calendar
5. Provide oversight & supervise the Volunteer/Activity Coordinator
6. Define volunteer roles that create meaningful engagement. With the Volunteer/Activity Coordinator, develop & implement volunteer training, recognition programs, and volunteer recruitment
7. Input and maintain the Center calendar events into the software tool
8. Complete program provider contracting requirements, including proof of provider insurance, contract execution, payment arrangements
9. In cooperation with Controller, prepare and manage the Center’s budget
10. Perform other responsibilities, as needed
Customer Service
1. Oversee the delivery of excellent customer service in both the Mirowitz Center & the cafe
2. Provide oversight of the Center software tool, ensuring that programs and activities are clearly communicated to participants, volunteers & staff
3. Provide periodic stakeholder training on the Mirowitz Center programs & activities to ensure clear & consistent communication to participants, community partners & volunteers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Interest in engaging with older adults
Able to supervise and motivate volunteers
Problem Solving
Display a positive approach when resolving issues
Willing to be flexible – weekend & evening hours may be requested
Must be organized & able to multi-task
Experience with Microsoft Office, computer navigation, software tools, data entry & reporting
Must be able to ambulate throughout large complex
Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
