Job Title: Youth and Family Programs Coordinator

General Description/Position Summary:
The Youth and Family Programs Coordinator is an innovative and creative leader on the St. Louis Area Foodbank’s Equitable Access Team. This person will develop, implement, and measure the success of the Foodbank’s youth and family programs throughout our 26-county region with a focus toward meeting immediate food and resource needs, establishing replicable best practices and ultimately, ending hunger. Additional expectations include serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for external partners, piloting new initiatives and ensuring continuous program improvement that improves the health and performance of students and families and advances our vision of a nutritionally security Missouri and Illinois.
Objectives:
- Stay abreast of trends and research regarding best practices in youth and family hunger relief especially in schools and on campuses.
- As SME, ensure program plans, logic models and tools are up to date.
- Develop and provide training and support to partners and team members.
- Pilot, measure and ensure the continuous improvement of all youth and family programs.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and serve as SME for all youth and family programs including School Markets, School Pantries, Campus Pantries, Summer Family Feeding, and the College Hunger Coalition.
- Use community feedback, needs assessments and data to determine needs and then develop, pilot and test new initiatives to address them.
- Ensure replicable program plans, logic models and tools are created and up to date with the latest trends and best practices.
- Measure the success of all youth and family program activities, ensure they are meeting intended goals and take steps to continuously improve.
- Incorporate the use of volunteers, interns and AmeriCorps members into all program models and develop standardized orientation, training, and supervision tools so that partners have a roadmap to support them.
- Serve as the Foodbank’s SME and point-of-contact for youth and family focused resources and groups.
- Serve as internal SME for youth and family programs with a focus on educating and training team members, interns and volunteers on the needs, programmatic goals, policies, and procedures.
- Partner across departments to collaborate on inclusive program models and ensure the availability of products and services to meet the needs of youth and family programs.
- Work cross functionally to identify outcomes and develop metrics to support and reinforce philanthropic and marketing efforts to ensure program models are resourced appropriately. Responsible for ensuring all grant requirements are met.
- Assist in executing and updating annual department work plan, including budgets, calendars, goals, and tasks.
- Partner with departmental leadership to craft, refine, and execute the Foodbank’s Strategic Direction.
- Provide oversight and direction to volunteers, interns and AmeriCorps members.
- Attend program-related training conferences and workshops.
- Attend and support Equitable Access Team food distributions and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited university required. Master’s degree with an emphasis in Non-profit Administration, Public
- Health, Education, or another social service-related field preferred.
2-5 years previous experience in program management with partners and volunteers of varying socio-economic backgrounds for a non-profit organization strongly preferred. - Bilingual a plus.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse individuals and groups on complex community issues.
- Experience managing grants and meeting set deadlines and deliverables.
- Prior experience with developing, writing, and executing programs, trainings and evaluation strategies strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working with youth, youth programs or in a higher education setting strongly preferred.
- Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB’s Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web-based applications. Experience with or the ability to quickly learn
- Tableau or other mapping software required.
- Ability to think strategically while acting tactically.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have reliable transportation with proof of insurance and be willing to travel within a 125-mile radius.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
WORK SCHEDULE: The Youth and Family Programs Coordinator will work a total of 40 hours per week. The hours are Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00AM – 4:30PM. This role may be hybrid with work remotely, on onsite at the Foodbank campus, and in the community as needed. However, flexibility will be granted as appropriate.
Occasional weekend (Saturday/Sunday) or evening hours may be required.
Meeting attendance may require overnight travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Youth and Family Programs Coordinator will spend significant time in the community, at schools and campuses, in our warehouse and at food distributions. Requirements include:
- Walking to and from the corporate office to the warehouse, both of which are on the Foodbank campus.
- Walking on hard concrete surfaces (in the warehouse or in the community).
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 40-50 pounds.
