Position Summary:
The Donor Relations Director is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective donors for major gift giving groups. This position will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors throughout the organization’s territory. As a member of the development management team, this position will collaborate to implement fundraising strategy and contribute to the organization’s overall fundraising success.
Essential Functions:
- Manages a portfolio of current and prospective donors focusing on individual and family giving of $1000 or more. Contacts donors directly and represents the organization and its mission to current and prospective donors.
- Conducts donor discovery through research and creative prospecting strategies. Develops and executes a full range of donor identification and cultivation activities.
- Maintains relationships with existing donors through regular contact and stewardship activities. Maintains strong connections with donors through recognition and engagement.
- Maintains thorough and accurate donor contact records and ensures the accuracy of reports and metrics for the department.
- Attends organizational events and activities, and incorporates these activities into donor identification, cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Participates in the overall fundraising strategy and shares responsibility for meeting team goals and objectives.
- Assists the VP of Development & Special Events and Chief Development Officer with projects as needed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising and 6 years of experience in major gifts.
- CFRE preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- This position primarily works weekday daytime hours; however early morning, evening and weekend hours are required for work activities and events.
- This positon will travel throughout the organization’s territory up to 50% of the time with overnight travel as needed.
- Must have current driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Must complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications.
- Must maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Working Environment:
- Work is performed in a variety of environments, including office environments, community locations, and event venues.
- This job utilizes office equipment and computer/electronic devices.
- May have exposure to inclement weather and/or temperatures when working at fundraising activities and outdoor events.
Physical Activities:
- Transports items to fundraising activities and special events. Items may weigh up to 20 lbs.
- Navigates environment and moves about offices and community locations for meetings and events.
- Remains in stationary positions at meetings and events.
- Operates office equipment and computer/electronic devices.
- Communicates and exchanges accurate information through a variety of methods.
- Obtains and reviews information from a variety of sources.
- Performs repetitive motion related to utilizing computer/electronic device.
