JOB PURPOSE
The Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization.
REPORTS TO
Executive Director and Founder
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
● Participate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in driving the strategic plan to guide the organization.
● Identify, assess, and inform the Executive Director of internal and external issues that affect the organization.
● Foster effective teamwork and communication within the team.
● Act as a spokesperson and positively represent the organization publicly, at all times.
Operational Planning and Management
● Develop an operational plan that works towards the strategic direction of the organization.
● Ensure that DASA operations meet the expectations of all stakeholders.
● Create and implement operational policies and procedures; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Executive Director as appropriate.
● Ensure the implementation of procedures that support the legal compliance of all DASA operations – file management, financial reporting, confidentiality, etc.
Human Resources Planning and Management
● Ensure that staff are properly orientated, trained and acclimated into the DASA team.
● Implement a performance management process for staff which includes regular touch points and a routine cadence of formal feedback.
● Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance.
● Select, train, supervise and evaluate staff and coordinate job responsibilities.
Fundraising
● Generally, oversee development, implementation, and timely execution of all fundraising special events by guiding and supervising appropriately assigned team members.
● Oversee the establishment of a fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, etc.
● Monitor the work of the fundraising committee in their efforts to raise money.
● Track outreach efforts to measure effectiveness.
● Oversee fundraising efforts to ensure that ethical practices are in place.
● Oversee the development of fund-raising plans and funding proposals.
● Participate in implementation of fundraising activities.
Financial Planning and Management
● Work with ED, staff, and board (Finance Committee) to prepare a comprehensive budget.
● Work with the Executive Director to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.
● Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board.
● Work with the Finance Committee, CFO and Office Manager to ensure that sound bookkeeping, and accounting procedures are followed.
● Monitor the DASA budget and monthly cash flow. Recommend financial pivots when necessary.
● Work with the Finance Committee, CFO and Office Manager to ensure comprehensive financial reports are provided to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors monthly.
Risk Management
● Identify and evaluate the risks of all DASA stakeholders (clients, staff, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control, minimize or eliminate risks.
● Ensure that the Board of Directors and the organization carry appropriate and adequate insurance coverage.
● Ensure that the Board and staff understand the terms, conditions, and limitations of the insurance coverage.
Marketing
● Oversee the creation and distribution of a monthly newsletter.
● Oversee the maintenance of the DASA website.
● Oversee the creation of marketing materials and monitor the appropriate use and distribution of all items.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
● Proven leadership skills.
● Prior experience as Director or Operations Manager.
● Proficient operational and financial acumen, including budget management.
● Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
● Acceptable driving record.
● Personal vehicle.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Masters degree in Business Administration
● Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
● Occasional Travel
● Ability to operate a vehicle
● Ability to lift up to 20lbs
● May be required to work in the Office or Remotely
● May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate program activities.
● May be required to use a personal vehicle or DASA vehicle for business purposes.
