MindsEye

Summary of Position
The Development and Communications Coordinator is responsible for building, supporting, and maintaining MindsEye constituent and community partner relationships. The DRC provides logistic, administrative, and communications support for MindsEye’s development activities with special emphasis on a donor-centered cultivation process.

A successful candidate will be a self-starter with a positive and resourceful attitude and strong attention to detail and organization. We seek a friendly, professional, ambitious individual who sees this position as an opportunity to learn about blind accessibility advocacy while providing a high level of constituent support.

Accountability
Reports to the COO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Development and Donor Relations
Identify, nurture, and maintain a strong donor base by

  • Assisting with donor-related communications, including annual appeals, acknowledgments, impact reports, newsletters, in-kind donation requests, sponsor proposals, and other development-related communication and marketing materials
  • Following up with timely correspondence to donor contributions and inquiries
  • Planning, coordinating, and attending donor meetings
  • Providing support with donor research and prospecting
  • Building donor relationships with local businesses, civic groups, and service organizations
  • Assisting in special event planning and implementation, such as the Soirée and Trivia Night

Communications and Marketing
Raise awareness in the community by

  • Developing an overall marketing strategy that pulls all communications mediums together for consistent messaging to increase volunteers, clients, and donors
  • Writing and disseminating all press releases and PSA’s relating to MindsEye events, services, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders
  • Implementing a social media strategy consistent with MindsEye’s mission, vision, and values
  • Being present in the community which MindsEye serves by attending networking events and other events that might benefit MindsEye’s long-term partnerships
  • Establishing relationships with local media for timely promotion of events and programs

Administrative
Supports organization’s operations by

  • Working with the COO to maintain up-to-date database information
  • Participating in strategic planning and goal setting
  • Offering suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Attending board meetings as requested
  • Executing other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Ability to speak to groups of 100 or more
  • Works with Microsoft Suite, eTapestry, MailChimp, Google products, and the internet on a daily basis

Requirements

  • Two years of development/nonprofit or related work experience
  • Database experience preferred, experience in eTapestry a plus
  • Reliable transportation for travel to donor meetings and community events

Salary and Benefits

  • Full-time position 40 hours/week, additional hours as required for special events
  • Salary $41,000 – $43,000, based on experience
