The Women’s Safe House

Reports To: Director of Development & Advancement

The Women’s Safe House (TWSH) is the oldest and largest provider of emergency services to women and
children experiencing domestic violence. We also work with women and families experiencing sexual
assault, stalking and human trafficking. TWSH is a 24-hour facility. We are an active member of the State of
Missouri and National Coalitions Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

TWSH’s events are a vital tool in celebrating and communicating our mission to the public. TWSH is looking
for a highly organized, creative, motivated and personable team member to lead our events for the
organization. Additionally, this position will manage TWSH’s donor database. This position is part-time,
exempt position, working on average 30 hours per week. A full benefits package is offered with this
position. We are looking for a candidate who has flexibility with their schedule at times in order to
accommodate additional hours during events. Typical hours will be Monday – Friday, but schedule
flexibility during event times and occasional evening and weekend hours are needed to accommodate
meetings and events.

Description of Duties:
 Partners with senior leadership and the Board of Directors to plan, coordinate and execute special
events designed to raise funds for TWSH and to convey the organizations mission to the public.
 Assist with creating and managing the event timelines, programs and tasks involved with hosting
events.
 Lead event planning meetings and discussions.
 Work collaboratively with Marketing and senior leadership on event concept, event material
designs and event marketing.
 Assist with the negotiation in costs and services with vendors; book event space, arrange food and
beverage, order supplies and coordinate applicable AV operations.
 Coordinate with Volunteer & Donation Coordinator for applicable volunteer coverage for events.
 Ownership of our donor database. Responsible for efficient and timely entry and processing of
donor information, monetary and in-kind donations and acknowledgement letters using best
practice techniques to maintain optimal data integrity; Work collaboratively with applicable team
members to ensure processing is completed on time; Develop and run reports, as necessary.
 Track tax credit program, provide necessary paperwork to donors and applicable government
agencies.
 Serve as TWSH representative with Young Professional Board, providing guidance and support for
their fundraising, recruitment, and education activities.

 Maintain online profiles, including Charity Navigator and GuideStar
 Provide other duties as assigned related to the Shelter and supporting survivors/their dependent
children in a trauma-informed manner.

Desired Requirements and Skills:
 Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be
considered.
 The ideal candidate will have at minimum 2 years of special events experience, nonprofit events
preferred.
 Microsoft products experience is required. Progressive experience in donor database programs or
applicable systems is essential. Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.
 At times, a flexible schedule is needed to accommodate special events. Standard working hours are
Monday-Friday.
 Occasional local travel to applicable event destinations, vendors, etc. is required. Must have own
reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

to handle multiple priorities.
 Ability to easily analyze problems and independently work towards a solution.
 Exhibits the ability to learn and apply new skills with minimal supervision. Uses resources
effectively.
 Excellent communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
 Demonstrate the ability to work well with people of various ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic
backgrounds.
 Must adhere to TWSH policies, procedures, and standards including, but not limited to,
confidentiality assisting victims of crime and similar practices.
 Willingness and ability to convey warmth, compassion, respect and non judgment to people
experiencing domestic violence.

Working and Physical Conditions:
 This position will work within an organization serving women and children residing in a domestic
violence shelter (confidential location).
 Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
