Saint Louis Crisis Nursery

The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery is excited to announce an opportunity for a professional Donor Relations Manager to join our Team.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about child abuse prevention and eager to join this dynamic team.  This professional reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Sr. Communications Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual and corporate donor prospects
  • Initiate, build and maintain ongoing rapport with current and prospective donors
  • Directly manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors with cultivation strategies focused on new gifts and upgrade of donor gifts
  • Research and build a new pipeline of prospective donors
  • Coordinate corporate and community partnerships/sponsorships for major events
  • Contribute to the crafting of donor-centric communications, acknowledgments, appeals, and other pieces that capture the impact of the SLCN mission
  • Actively contribute to and participate in the collaborative team that plans and executes major fundraising events
  • Makes direct, face-to-face solicitations and assists the CEO, Board of Directors, and other staff with their solicitations
  • Articulates and promotes a strong case for support that grows the donor base and giving levels
  • Regularly attends community events and activities and fosters pride and excitement in fundraising efforts

Education/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years relevant experience in a non-profit setting
  • Ability to interact professionally with donors, board members, and senior staff with poise and discretion
  • Proven ability to remain detail and results-oriented while managing multiple projects under deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and donor relationship skills; with ability to connect with various constituents and audiences
  • Talented team participant adept at working with staff members with diverse skills, gifts, expertise, and experience
  • Outstanding organizational skills and excellent time management skills
  • Willingness and ability to take direction and pursue professional development opportunities
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • A high level of cultural competence and professional or personal experiences involving diverse groups of people and ideas
  • Experience working effectively toward mutual outcomes with volunteers, staff, and stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings
  • Ability to make frequent telephone calls and routine in-person visits to donors and prospects, documenting contacts and content in donor database.
  • A self-motivated leader, able to work collaboratively in teams as well as independently;
  • Familiarity with using donor software, and the ability to quickly become proficient in other industry-related software;
  • Work closely with the administrative team to capitalize on efficiencies and create a positive, cohesive working environment.
  • Manage individual and groups of volunteers
