Gene Slay's Girls & Boys Club

Mission & Organization:

The mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club (GSGBC) is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis metropolitan area, especially those who need us most, to realize their physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.

GSGBC offers after-school and summer programming for youth ages 6-17, serving more than 900 youth annually. GSGBC supports youth development and holistic health with programs that include academic support and assistance, aquatics and recreation, character and citizenship, healthy lifestyle, and the arts. After-school programs run August through May, 2:30pm-7:30pm, and an 8-week summer program is offered June-August, 7:00 am-5:30pm.

In 2018, GSGBC adopted Sanctuary, a trauma-informed organizational change model, which encourages the core values of non-violence, emotional intelligence, social learning, democracy, open communication, social responsibility, and growth and change.  All staff are trained in Sanctuary and all youth participate in trauma-informed curriculum focused on safety, learning about emotions, managing loss, and creating a hopeful future.

Major Responsibilities:

State license compliance

•         Responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance with Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure for all GSGBC locations

•         Hold license and work in collaboration with site license holder at other GSGBC location to ensure all regulations are met

•         Provide quarterly internal audits of member files to ensure files are complete and meet state regulations

•         Ensure all annual required clock hours are met

•         Arrange staff trainings needed to meet state regulations for all staff in the ratio

•         Provide quarterly internal audits of staff training requirements ensuring state regulations are met

•         Ensure that parent guide and enrollment applications are current and meet state regulations

•         Design and oversee the implementation of an effective strategy for ongoing recruitment and retention plan for members to ensure maximum capacity based on state license and agency goals.

•         Conduct monthly enrollment drives for all GSGBC locations

•         Ensure a complete and thorough written and/or electronic registration process for all members

Program design and quality

•         Developing new programs and ensuring existing programs are evidence-based, meeting the needs of our members and consistent with our strategic plan

•         Manage the assessment, outcome measures, and evaluation of all programs

•         Ensure all programs meet the stated program outcome(s)

•         Analyze and make recommendations on ways to sustain and/or improve program output and quality

•         Implement new procedures that ensure higher program quality and output

•         Lead the development of parent and member surveys

Program administration

•         Recommend training opportunities for staff on new or adjusted programs

•         Ensure the core values of Sanctuary (non-violence, emotional intelligence, social learning, democracy, open communication, social responsibility, growth & change) in all aspects of programming

•         Responsible for service/education content and multiple institutional and nonprofit partnerships

•         Report monthly outcomes achieved by core program areas

•         Ensure comparison of site consistency/inconsistency in program implementation and outcomes

•         Participate in professional meetings, conferences and trainings to expand knowledge base of new developments in youth services and updates in best practices

•         Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience:

•         Comprehensive understanding of and commitment to holistic development of the child

•         Experience in providing high-quality supports and enrichment opportunities to support the development of academic and social skills

•         Understanding of trauma-informed care and trauma-informed environments

•         Demonstrated ability to direct an outcomes-driven program, critical understanding of the process for implementation and evaluation of programs

•         Team player and tactical thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and a constant positive attitude

•         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook; experience with web-based and/or software database system

Qualifications:

•         Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; 120 college semester hours, with 24 college semester hours in child-care related course work required

•         5-10 years of program management experience, with demonstrated growth & increased responsibility over time

•         Proven experience in managing performance and outcome-driven youth programs

•         Experience in staff development, quality program development, best practices in youth development

•         Clear understanding of the work and mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club and the ability to carry out the vision as defined by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors

•         Must have reliable transportation
