Whole Kids Outreach

Whole Kids Outreach (WKO) is located in Reynolds County and serves 11 rural counties in southeast and southcentral Missouri through home visits and center-based programs.  WKO is a faith-based nonprofit, serving pregnant women/teens and families with young children. Our families are often impoverished, as well as socially and geographically isolated from resources. WKO is seeking a part time Development Specialist to work in collaboration with its local Development Coordinator and Executive Director to manage its established St. Louis based fund raising activities, including special events, donor cultivation, and networking.  Hours will vary throughout the year and will average approximately 20 hours/week.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in related field or comparable experience
  • Knowledge of solicitation methods and development practices
  • Experience in non-profit development and event management
    Skills necessary to procure gifts
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work from home office and travel as needed to the WKO Center in Ellington
  • Access to a working vehicle for travel for job responsibilities (e.g., St. Louis greater metro area, Ellington)
  • Ability to set and reach goals
  • Strong interpersonal and human relations skills
  • Volunteer management skills
  • Ability to plan and implement activities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Well-developed written and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, familiarity with Publisher and Photoshop preferred
  • Experience or ability to quickly learn constituent data base programs
  • Ability to cooperate with Development Coordinator to produce content
  • Ability to learn and internalize the WKO mission and relational philosophy

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with donors, staff members, program participants, families, and agencies in the external environment in a professional, clear, courteous, accurate, and honest  manner
  • Intentionally work to establish appropriate trust and rapport with donors, program participants, volunteers, and other service providers
  • Demonstrate openness and appreciation for diversity both within and outside of the WKO organization
  • Exemplify highest professional standards and inspire others to achieve/pursue the same
  • Keep abreast of current trends and developments in related fields as appropriate to job responsibilities
  • Develop and implement problem-solving processes

  • Collaborate with the Development Coordinator, Executive Director and support staff to:
    plan and implement all St. Louis based sponsored and third-party fund raiser events
    assist with the cultivation, solicitation and follow up processes with donors
    develop and implement marketing and development plan
  • Coordinate donations for WKO’s annual Christmas Store and other local events.
  • Other responsibilities include assisting WKO’s Center Director to coordinate St. Louis based youth service groups and other onsite volunteers, giving presentations to schools and/or other volunteer/donor groups.
