LifeWise StL is seeking a dynamic, full-time Bilingual Financial Social Worker (FSW) to join our team. This role is not just about providing services; it’s about empowering participants to achieve economic wellness through personalized support and education. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the unique financial challenges faced by our diverse community, including both native and foreign-born participants. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and achieving goals that lead to financial stability and independence.
To support your journey in this role, LifeWise StL will provide training and certification in Financial Social Work, equipping you with the tools and knowledge to make a lasting impact.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build ongoing relationships through one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Conduct formal intakes and needs assessments, developing S.M.A.R.T. action plans for participants.
- Co-Facilitate or lead financial and wealth management education workshops.
- Apply financial social work practices and coaching techniques to support participants in achieving financial goals such as saving, increasing income, reducing debt, and growing assets.
- Maintain accurate data for outcome-driven programming and report generation.
- Participate in marketing, outreach, recruitment, and retention of program participants.
- Engage in staff meetings, strategic planning, and community meetings as required.
- Commit to personal and organizational growth through training and professional development opportunities, funded by LifeWise StL.
- LifeWise StL staff partner with individual and group volunteers, who provide over 25,000 service hours to the organization annually. As such, the successful employee will work collaboratively with organizational leadership, co-workers, volunteers, and colleagues from within and outside the organization to deliver and support holistic, client-focused programming.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in social services, with a focus on case management or counseling.
- Basic knowledge of financial management tools and terminology.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage effectively in group settings.
- Excellent organizational, public speaking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound judgments.
- Experience working with diverse and underserved populations; experience with senior adults is a plus.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes some non-traditional hours.
- Previous experience in financial services is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
