Job Title: Chief Development Office

Travel Requirements: Moderate

Status: Full Time, Exempt

Supervisor: Executive Director

Location: Jefferson City with regular travel to each of the other 3 locations

Direct Reports:  4

Salary: Starting at $75,000

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Development Officer position is a vital role that directly reports to the Executive Director to promote CMFCAA’s mission and achieve funding goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, government entities, and individuals. The Chief Development Officer also works with CMFCAA’s communications and public relations as they relate to the promotion of the organization, its activities, and fundraising objectives. This position provides guidance and expertise to support fundraising efforts in all branch offices.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of experience working in development/fundraising in public administration, business, nonprofit administration, advertising, or related field Masters Degree preferred
  • Three years of supervisory experience required
  • Strategic thinker
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills
  • Core understanding of governmental and private streams of funding for social service programs is preferred
  • Experience with broader community policy development and implementation/systemic advocacy is a plus
  • Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families
  • The ability to collaborate and advocate for positive outcomes, using excellent interpersonal skills in multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic professional teams
  • Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines
  • Work as a necessary part of a team effort with colleagues of all demographics
  • Model ethical and professional behavior at all times
  • Participate in ongoing meetings/professional memberships and trainings as required by the Executive Director
  • Flexibility and adaptability, able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to quickly establish rapport and build trust (8 years)
  • Experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational change in a fast-growing organization (4 years)
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems (4 years)
  • Experience working with marginalized communities with a nuanced understanding of systemic oppressions (2 years)
  • Core understanding of donor cultivation and fund development principles (6 years)
  • Knowledge and expertise in special event management (2 years)
