Role Description:

The OASIS Institute (Oasis), located in St Louis, MO, is seeking a part-time Staff Accountant for a temporary hybrid role that requires both on-site and remote work[1] due to some recent staff transitions. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining accounting records and completing administrative tasks to support the financial operations of the organization, such as reconciling financial statements and preparing reports. You will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and work closely with members of the finance team.

What is Oasis?

Oasis is a national not-for-profit organization promoting healthy aging in and empowering the lives of older adults through lifelong learning, fitness and health education, and volunteer opportunities.  Our national office is located in St. Louis, Missouri and we offer programs in more than 200 communities across the country through a national network of over 800 partners in 33 states.  The national office operates an annual $5-$6 million budget and serves select administrative needs of Oasis Centers across the country.

Responsibilities:

Prepare the month-end closings and the preparation of monthly financial statements for the national office as well as its affiliates, assuring quality, accuracy and efficiency.
Prepare monthly and other necessary reconciliation of various general ledger accounts such as cash, investments, receivables, equipment and payables;
Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, related analysis and complete data entry;
Perform and support functions in the area of the accounts payable process for the national office as well as its affiliates, assuring quality, accuracy and efficiency.
Perform and support functions in the area of accounts receivable for the national office as well as its affiliates, assuring quality, accuracy and efficiency.
Assist in the monitoring and update of grant balances for grants awarded to The OASIS Institute and related entities;
Assist in the development and monitoring of operating and grant budgets for The OASIS Institute and its affiliates;
Other accounting projects as directed.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum of a 2-year associate’s degree; 4-year accounting degree preferred.
Two to five (2-5) Years work experience (bookkeeping/accounting) preferred; non-profit experience preferred.
Must be an experienced Excel and Word user and be familiar with accounting software package(s) (FundWare or Financial Edge a plus).
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations.
1-2 Years experience grant accounting preferred.
Good analytical and communication skills.
