The Opportunity: The St. Louis Public Schools Foundation seeks an experienced professional with a passion and proven track record for friend and fundraising.  In partnership with the President & CEO, the Development Operations Officer is charged with establishing and implementing stewardship programming, processes, practices, and tools to initially secure $4.5M in annual revenue, and incrementally grow that figure over the course of their tenure.

The ideal candidate for the Development Operations Officer position will have experience creating and implementing a diversified fundraising program that includes government, individual, corporate, and foundation funders, both regional and national. Additional experience and success in database management, stakeholder communications, and event planning are also essential qualifiers for employment in the role, as well as project managing large scale networking events.

Reports To: President and CEO and/or their designee

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CEO and Board Development Committee to determine and achieve annual fundraising goals.
  • Project and program manages the planning and execution of all fundraising, special events and donor appreciation opportunities, including working in collaboration with the CEO and Board Development Committee to set goals, shape key elements and activities, manage vendors, maintain communications, etc.
  • Manage 1-2 contracted grant writers and a part-time operations associate (budget dependent).
  • Identifies and calendars grant proposal opportunities.
  • Project manages the grant proposal preparation, completion, submission and reporting materials and processes.
  • Work in collaboration with the CEO to craft and manage all organizational funder appeals and website giving strategies; and gift acknowledgements.
  • Work in collaboration with the CEO and team members to develop and disseminate quarterly newsletters and monthly spotlights (as possible) for Foundation constituents.
  • Work in collaboration with CEO to identify and cultivate new donor prospects, and stewardship process points.
  • Work in collaboration with CEO to build stronger relationships with the Foundation’s top 50-75 donors.
  • Partner with the CEO and designated Board Members to plan, facilitate, and manage Board Development Committee meetings and actions.
  • Ensure that all entries into our donor database are entered accurately and with fidelity to internal operating procedures.
  • Ensure that all donor profiles are maintained in the current database including call notes, correspondence, gift acknowledgements, etc., taking particular note of changes in donor employment, life/lifestyle, contact information, and other information relevant to relationship-building.
  • Work in collaboration with the CEO to prepare fundraising reports and dashboards as needed, including progress towards financial goals, revenue, and expense reports related to fundraising.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience & Dispositions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or another applicable field.  CFE credential preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant fundraising or sales experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/365 – Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word required.
  • Team oriented with demonstrated experience establishing trusting professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Proven ability to build solid, trusting relationships with donors including government, individual, corporate and foundation donors.
  • Experience working with a donor or sales database is required.
  • Major gift cultivation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the STL education environment helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the STL philanthropic landscape.

Benefits:

Full-time OR Part-time position with benefits.  Compensation commensurate with experience, employment status, and demonstrated history of success. Salary ranges from $35,000 – $65,000 annually with up to $15,000 in performance bonus opportunities.
