Generate Health builds collective power to advocate for racially equitable policies and practices that center, support and celebrate Black families throughout their pregnancy and parenthood journeys.   We are a multi-racial coalition committed to eliminating racial health disparities impacting Black moms and babies by dismantling and reconstructing systems of maternal care to be equitable and just by uplifting the experiences and leadership of Black women and birthing people. Position Summary

Generate Health is looking for a driven and resourceful professional passionate about justice in maternal and infant health to help ensure that the organization’s grant strategies and activities match the organization’s bold equity mission and provide the resources needed for sustainable growth.

The Grants and Budgeting Manager is an important part of the Generate Health team, responsible for managing an existing grant / contract portfolio of $1.3 million, expanding strategic grant and institutional partnerships, and managing a complex budget environment. This position will have ownership of the full cycle of grant research, application, and post-award stewardship. The successful Grants and Budgeting Manager will identify funding solutions to address organizational goals, coordinate the submission of partnership and funding proposals, and ensure comprehensive budget and outcomes reporting.  This position reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the Bookkeeper, Philanthropy Manager, and program staff.

Responsibilities

Manage pre-award, award and post-award cycle of portfolio of grants & agreements

–    Develop, monitor, and manage complex grant and department budgets.

  1. Ensure expenses are allocated in compliance with organizational, budget, and funder conditions
  2. Prepare grant budget reports for internal and external audiences
    1. Regular communication and planning with appropriate team members about budget status and with funders to request budget changes.
  3.   Ensure new grants are onboarded in the financial management system
  4. Support the annual organizational budgeting process

–       Establish and maintain systems for monitoring and coordinating grant deliverables and report deadlines across teams

  1. Generate photographic, video, and written documentation of successful grant outcomes for reporting and publication
  2. Maintain meticulous financial and written records and submit required reports related to grant awards and outcomes

–       Prepare monthly grants status reports for management and board of directors’

–       Assist with the annual audit and respond to auditor requests regarding grant agreements and expenditures in a timely manner

Identify and Pursue Funding Opportunities

–       Continuously monitor the funding environment for recurring and emerging opportunities aligned with GH mission and greatest likelihood of success

–       Utilize project management approaches and tools including GrantHub Pro to track grant cycles, submission dates, projected award dates, and any required progress or completion report deadlines

–       Oversee preparation of compelling proposals – either serving as primary author or offering editorial review of proposals prepared by staff

  1. Ensure that proposals adhere to organizational standards of readability, consistency, and tone.
  2. Manage deadlines by coordinating submittals from program staff

Strategic partnerships

–        Partner with staff to identify funding needs

–        Develop deep understanding of mission, culture and program priorities

–        Nurture relationship with key funders at local, state and national level

–        Act as a bridge between key funders and staff, facilitating communication and demonstrating impact of past support or potential future benefits of investing in Generate Health

Required Qualifications:

●      3+ years full cycle grant experience writing and managing grant portfolios

  1. demonstrated track record for securing five- and six- figure awards
  2. strong experience with project management and increasing funding through new grant and foundational opportunities

●      3+ years of experience with complex non-profit grant budgeting

  1. Financial expertise to create, analyze, and edit project budgets that align seamlessly with funder requirements, demonstrating a keen understanding of financial implications
  2.  Capacity to comprehensively understand the funding needs of a complex organization, ensuring alignment with overarching goals
  3. Capacity to lead post-award grant administration to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, activity tracking, reporting and any other grantor requirements are followed

●      Exceptional writing skills; natural storytelling ability coupled with experience drafting compelling correspondence, proposals, reports, and other written documents.

●      Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships, interacting with others in a helpful and friendly manner to foster effective collaboration.

●      Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask while meeting deadlines.

●      Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive, complex,

and/or controversial situations.

●      Proficiency with Office 365, database management and ability to adapt to

new technology.

●      Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in collaborative teams.

●      Self-motivated and able to work well with frequently shifting priorities; ability to

work with minimal supervision.

●      Knowledge of racial equity & ability to reflect on where you are in your own journey.

Salary and Benefits:  $59,688 – $62,808 annual salary, 23 days PTO (prorated first calendar year), 10 Holidays (7 of which are floating), and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and flexible spending account.  Paid time off also includes two weeks when Generate Health closes the office.

Generate Health is located within Delmar DivINe, a multi-use development of almost 40 nonprofit organizations, residential apartments, and business including a pharmacy, urgent care clinic, credit union, and deli.  Working in the Delmar DivINe includes access to a fitness center, professional development, and opportunities for collaboration.
