SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Community Engagement Manager oversees all facets of the volunteer experience and recruitment of girls and adults in their assigned geographic area. The Community Engagement Manager is accountable for representing and extending Girl Scouting in the community through networking, collaborative efforts, and presentations, to ensure the Girl Scout program is accessible to all girls, across all demographic groups.

This opening is for our District 2 area, which is located in South City in St. Louis. The area includes St. Louis Public Schools and other private and charter schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Adhere to national and local Girl Scout policies, standards, and procedures
  2. Research market data and other pertinent information to become knowledgeable about demographics, community needs and possibilities for girl and adult recruitment.
  3. Create and implement short- and long-term strategies for the recruitment and retention of new girl and adult membership.
  4. Hold community recruitment events for registration and placement of new members
  5. Represent and promote Girl Scouting in the community by building community awareness by highlighting benefits of membership to the public. Build a rapport/relationship with schools within jurisdiction.
  6. Oversee the volunteer experience for all participating adults in assigned area including the distribution of information between Girl Scout staff and volunteers.
  7. Provide a high level of support for all volunteer roles; identify the need for and provide timely problem solving and conflict resolution
  8. Support the organizational diversity and fund development goals of the organization
  9. Provide continuity of Girl Scout programs by ensuring the recruitment, selection, placement, training, development and supervision of the Neighborhood Service Team and all other volunteers within the assigned geographic area
  10. Work in integrated work groups throughout Council to recruit and plan programs
  11. Demonstrate consistently a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to staff, volunteers, and the general public
  12. Travel as needed throughout Council jurisdiction
  13. Complete other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of the sales environment, including sales and marketing techniques, networking, goal-setting and cold calling.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and develop and implement marketing plans
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and demonstrate strong relationship skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, recruit, communicate staff members, volunteers and community members
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills while achieving results in partnership with others with the desire and ability to work effectively in both an individual and team atmosphere
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, meet deadlines, gather and analyze information, maintain confidentiality and manage multiple projects
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, email, and internet applications
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule and work evenings and some weekends
  • Has a reliable vehicle that can be used for work purposes
  • Must have a working cell phone and internet services available
