PURPOSE OF POSITION

Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, absolute respect and a place to call home. Beyond shelter and basic needs, we deliver transformative solutions to help young people ages 16 to 24 build productive, independent and sustainable lives.

Covenant House Missouri seeks a dynamic and experienced Special Events & Annual Giving Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing various special events and coordinating annual giving campaigns to support the organization’s mission.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Special Events Management:

  • Plan and execute special events, including, but not limited to, Trivia Night, Sleep Out: Executive Edition, Sleep Out: Friend & Family Edition, Evening of Gratitude, and other engagement events.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event logistics.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to maximize attendance, sponsorships, and fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless event execution.

Annual Giving Coordination and Stewardship:

  • Develop and implement annual giving campaigns to engage donors and raise funds.
  • Establish a monthly giving club focused on increasing annual giving.
  • Manage direct mail campaigns, monthly giving clubs, and planned giving initiatives.
  • Assist in creating and implementing stewardship strategies to cultivate and retain donors, ensuring their continued support in coordination with other team members.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of annual giving efforts, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Donor Engagement through Media:

  • In collaboration with internal team members, ensure that the content for various communication channels, including thank-you letters, newsletters, invitations, annual reports, and other printed documents, aligns with goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with the communications team to leverage social media and online platforms for donor and community engagement.

Donor and Community Relationship Building:

  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Foster relationships with donors through personalized communication, acknowledgment, and recognition activities.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and pursue opportunities for donor cultivation and community partnerships.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Regular contact with all CHMO staff, vendors, suppliers, board members, volunteers, and outside agencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications; CRM or donor database experience required.
  • Special event management experience is required; peer-to-peer fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Ability to proactively organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, volunteers, guests, donors, and media.
  • Experience with public speaking, capacity to share compelling stories to impact and influence others.
  • Knowledge of how a non-profit Development or Advancement department functions.
  • Previous experience working in human service agencies and/or with the homeless population is a plus.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, communications, non-profit, etc.) with a minimum of 2 years working with donors or event planning; or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years working with donors in a fundraising setting.

SALARY RANGE: 

  • Starting range for this position is $44,160 – $55,200
  • This position is eligible for full benefits offered by CHMO.
