Position Summary
The Business Manager will report to the Senior Business Manager and have responsibilities for financial and budget management and procurement for all Advancement programs and projects. The Business Manager will be part of a team that assures University Advancement is following all WashU policies and procedures in these areas. The business team leads the department’s continuing efforts to reduce costs and establish best practices.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process, review and approve financial transactions in the Workday system. Ensure compliance with Washington University, federal, and department requirements and guidelines. Resolve expense reimbursement/financial issues related to transactions. Assist with gathering and compiling financial data related to surveys and reports.
  • Assist Senior Business Managers with budget management. Monitor expenditures, create ad hoc reports, and support fiscal year closing process and new fiscal year setup.
  • Assist all UA departments with purchasing activities, procurement reconciliations, and approvals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Computer proficiency sufficient to master WashU computer-based systems (Workday, COGNOS).
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with data and financial information with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with competing priorities.
  • Exercise a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work comfortably and efficiently with a diverse constituency of administrators, staff and other WashU department representatives.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and one to two years of experience in financial, human resources, and administrative management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
