SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Manager, Risk Management is accountable for oversight and management of the organization’s risk management function, ensuring the Council’s alignment with the GSUSA national risk management policies/guidelines, and protecting the organization with sound risk management strategies, trainings, and policies for staff, board of directors, and volunteers.  This position also supervises the IT vendor to ensure excellent internal customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversees the risk management function and collaborates with all departments and stakeholders to control risk.
  • Provides support, education, and training to staff, board of directors, and volunteers to build risk awareness within the organization.
  • Conducts annual risk assessment and spot audits to identify and analyze current and future risk for the organization.
  • Manages the outsourced IT function including vendor management, assistance with employee onboarding/off boarding, employee security training, inventory management, enterprise risk mitigation and management.
  • Monitors and manages council insurance programs (non-employee benefits).
  • Facilitates annual insurance renewal process in conjunction with insurance broker.
  • Handles processing and tracking of insurance and risk management claims, including interaction with involved parties and council management.
  • Works with staff on proposals and contracts to ensure they follow contracting policies.
  • Becomes well-versed in risk management in Girl Scout councils and Safety Activity Checkpoints to provide guidance to staff, board of directors, and volunteers on risk management topics.
  • Prepares initial contract draft and interfaces between relevant parties.
  • Reviews final contracts and agreements for proper approvals.
  • Handles all risk-related council policies and procedures documents.
  • Tracks member insurance and issuance of Certificates of Insurance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in risk management or a related field.
  • Claims management or underwriting experience is preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze data.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic organization.
  • Supports the organizational diversity and fund development goals of the Council.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

If your position requires that you drive an average of one (1) day per week or more, you must possess a valid state driver’s license and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer, including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
  • The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
  • Is required to drive/ operate an automobile.

EXPOSURES

Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust.
