SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Graphic Design Coordinator supports consistency and brand integrity in all internal and external marketing materials developed by the Marketing and Communications Department, including print and digital collateral. This position serves as an expert resource to our council and colleagues on Girl Scout branding guidelines.

This individual will have a firm foundation on design concepts and Adobe software to take various visual communications projects from the idea stage through final execution. Including designing and editing marketing materials such as event fliers, postcards, t-shirts, patches, booklets, event signage, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design and edit GSEM marketing materials, such as, event fliers, postcards, t-shirts, patches, booklets, event signage, and more.
  • Support the Marcom team with completing assigned communications requests.
  • Consistently maintain and enforce the Girl Scouts brand voice as outlined in GSUSA brand strategy and guidelines.
  • Create a wide range of graphics and layouts for print and digital assets.
  • Plan concepts, execute design, and work with print vendor to complete project.
  • Work with outside vendors to coordinate/ schedule/ execute activities (i.e. printers, vendors, etc.).
  • Approve and correct all member-submitted district and neighborhood fliers.
  • Assists with coordination of participants, locations and artistic support to all media appearances and photographic and video shoots.
  • Supports Council events through the development of graphic materials, including event logos, programs, signage, merchandise, etc.
  • Supports MarCom Director with preparation for council events and attends events for staff support as needed.
  • Basic photography skills to capture and document girl programs to use in publications, social media, marketing collateral and more.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Attends meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Supports the organizational strategic goals of the organization.
  • Consistently demonstrates a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to staff, volunteers, members, and general public.
  • Assists other departments with major communication projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing goals to execute on tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Expert graphic design skills (skilled and independent with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must have knowledge of basic office skills and procedures
    Must have excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule as some evenings and weekends will be required throughout the year
  • Has a reliable vehicle that can be used for work purposes
  • Must have a working cell phone and internet services available

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If your position requires that you drive an average of one (1) day per week or more, you must possess a valid state driver’s license and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer; including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.
  • Consistently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
  • The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
  • Is required to drive/operate an automobile.
