Marketing and Communications Manager

Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Job Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Foundation, the Marketing and Communications Manager will shape and execute the marketing and communications strategy and content for Camp Rainbow. We are looking for an expert visual storyteller with a passion for creating engaging marketing materials and dynamic digital content. The ideal candidate is a digital and social media content guru with experience managing a company or non-profit organization’s social channels and WordPress-hosted website. They also have experience with Canva and/or other design programs to develop engaging content and marketing materials. If you are a self-starter that enjoys working on a variety of projects and craves an environment where the work you do each day makes a real impact on the children and families we serve, then we want to hear from you.

Hours/Work Schedule: Full time, may require some evenings and weekends.  This position operates both within an office as well as within the community.

About Camp Rainbow Foundation:

The Camp Rainbow Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free camp experiences and programs for children and families affected by childhood cancer and blood-related diseases. We provide a recreational and nurturing environment to create positive memories, build self-esteem, make new friends and experience a break from the everyday stresses caused by illness. We have a small but mighty staff who is supported by our Board of Directors and 100’s of volunteers. Together, we are working towards serving more children and their families as well as reaching more stakeholders, including current and potential donors.


This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the development of engaging multimedia content for our digital channels (website, Facebook and Instagram), including social graphics and videos, with a passion for quality and accuracy.
  • Create and manage an editorial content calendar that supports our social media content, website content, marketing collateral and email blasts.
  • Ensure our website is content-rich and engaging, user-friendly, up-to-date, and aligned with our mission.
  • Attend our Camp Programs throughout the year and capture photos and videos to be utilized for our external communications materials and digital channels.
  • Create all publications including, but not limited to, Foundation magazines, flyers, event invitations, posters, annual report, etc.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Fundraising Director to provide assistance with marketing materials and grant writing.
  • Developing annual and long-range plans to meet organizational needs and goals

Key Relationships

  • The Camp Rainbow Community (donors, families, & volunteers) –  It is the role of this person to engage our Camp Rainbow community and build their awareness of the Camp Rainbow mission. It is also the role of this person to expand our Camp Rainbow community through engagement.
  • Executive Director – This person will seek a strong partnership with the Executive Director to develop short and long term growth and communication strategies for Camp Rainbow.
  • Board of Directors – This person will work with the Board to develop short and long term plans to meet Board approved objectives and to develop policies to guide communication programs.
  • Leadership Volunteers and Camp Staff – This person will work with the Leadership Team including Camp Rainbow staff to fulfill organizational objectives.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, PR, journalism, communications or equivalent experience

Experience and Skills

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Canva, WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite. Strong content creation and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-starter who has strong time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player who enjoys working in a small mission-driven environment.
  • 7+ years of communications experience supporting a small company or non-profit organization.
