Make a Difference in Young Lives: Lead Our Resource Development Efforts

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County (BGCSTC) is seeking a passionate and results-oriented Director of Resource Development to join our team. In this leadership role, you play a pivotal part in securing the resources needed to empower our young people to reach their full potential. A successful Director of Resource Development demonstrates proven success with increasing and diversifying revenue, working with staff and volunteer teams, and stewarding donors in alignment with the Club’s mission, vision, and values.

About the Role:

As the Director of Resource Development, you will be the architect of BGCSTC’s fundraising success. You’ll cultivate new donors, nurture existing relationships, and secure funding through a multifaceted approach, including:

●     Corporate Giving: Develop and implement strategies to secure corporate sponsorships and partnerships. This includes identifying and researching potential corporate partners, crafting compelling proposals, and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements.

●     Foundation and Community Grants: Lead the grant-seeking process, including researching grant opportunities, writing and/or reviewing persuasive proposals with support from staff, and overseeing the reporting process to ensure compliance with foundation guidelines.

●     Individual Giving: Design and execute annual giving campaigns, manage major donor relationships, and steward all donor contributions with gratitude and transparency. Manage annual giving campaigns, recurring giving programs, and donation incentives. This includes working with the Marketing & Brand Manager to create impactful materials, organizing donor appreciation events, and exceeding giving goals.

●     Special Events: Plan and execute high-quality special events that engage attendees with the mission, generate excitement, and develop relationships with existing and potential donors. You’ll oversee event logistics, event committees, volunteer recruitment, and online event management system to ensure events are financially successful.

●     Tax Credit Programs: Maximize BGCSTC’s participation in relevant tax credit programs to incentivize individual and corporate giving.

●     Board Led Development Committee: You will be the primary staff contact for the board’s Resource Development Committee, responsible for meeting prep, agendas, notes, and follow-up. You will work in collaboration with the RD committee to focus on development objectives within the strategic plan.

●     Supervising Development Staff: Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to a team of two to three staff members to ensure they effectively support fundraising initiatives focused on community impact, volunteer engagement, grant acquisition, grant management, and donor stewardship.

You’ll also play a key leadership role in:

●     Collaborating with Teams: Work closely with varying department teams to develop a cohesive brand message that resonates with donors and enhances fundraising efforts.

●     Managing Resources: Ensure responsible stewardship of resources by staying within budget, maintaining accurate financial and donor records, and maximizing relationships to secure both in-kind and financial gifts throughout the year.

Qualifications:

●     Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and/or Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.

●     Minimum 3-5 years of experience in development for a small to mid-size NPO.

●     Proven track record of exceeding fundraising goals in a competitive environment.

●     Experience leading major campaigns and special events to secure funding from multiple donor channels (corporate, foundations, individual, and board of directors).

●     Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with a diverse range of stakeholders.

●     Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.

●     Experience with donor management software and database (e.g., Virtuous)

●     Demonstrated ability to set clear goals, inspire and lead teams, and achieve results.

●     Motivated self-starter and problem-solver; ability to manage multiple projects with limited staffing and work collaboratively across departments.

●     Flexibility within schedule to work some nights and weekends.

●     Ability to assist with event set up to include lifting, standing, and transporting material.
