Contract Communications Specialist

Position Summary

BioSTL is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Specialist to join our small but mighty communications team as a contractor, with the possibility of coming on full-time. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating content, writing, and designing materials that support our fundraising initiatives. This mid-level role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for our mission. Job Responsibility

Develop and produce engaging content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
Design visually appealing materials for fundraising campaigns, events, and donor communications.
Collaborate with the fundraising team to create compelling stories and messaging that highlight the impact of our work.
Create and maintain an organized system of access to visuals, content, copy and data to support continuity and efficiency in ongoing communications.
Help maintain the organization’s brand voice and visual identity across all communication channels.
Assist in planning and executing communications strategies for fundraising initiatives and events.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in content creation and nonprofit communications.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, PR, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in communications, content creation, or a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Experience in fundraising is a plus.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and experience in designing marketing materials.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without heavy oversight

Compensation

Pay is commensurate with experience and is benchmarked against market rates.
