SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Social Media Coordinator is accountable for developing engaging content for all Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s social media platforms, increasing brand awareness and supporting comprehensive communications efforts, including internal and external promotion. The Social Media Coordinator will assist in the department creation of video and photo content and attend Girl Scout events, programs, and camps to produce live social media content. The Social Media Coordinator will maintain a unified brand voice across all social channels and will use analytics to report on campaign success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Responsible for all social media messaging for GSEM, as well as coordination with outside parties related to external social media messaging (i.e. program partners, etc.).  Managing communication on all platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn for Council and various departments and groups within the Council.
  2. Monitoring of social media inboxes and comments to provide timely customer service for all inquiries that come through on social media.
  3. Developing and utilizing a year-long strategic and comprehensive social media calendar
  4. Scheduling all posts in advance of weekends, holidays, and pre-scheduled time off
  5. Overseeing and managing the social media advertising budget in support of council-wide, departmental goals.
  6. Creating strategic advertisement campaigns on Facebook and Instagram in support of Council initiatives, like Product Programs, Human Resources and Membership, using Business Manager and Ads Manager
  7. Assessing effectiveness of social media posts and campaigns using tools such as Meltwater, and Hootsuite
  8. Tracks key metrics such as audience engagement, impressions, and reach. Creates monthly analytics reports for review with manager.
  9. Attends live Girl Scout events, programs and camps to provide in-the-moment social content or take video/photos for content creation at a later date.
  10. Graphic design in support of digital and social media needs, as well as the needs of other departments and the Council as a whole
    1. Creates engaging and unique content including graphics and video for Council communications, events, and initiatives, as assigned using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  11. Communications duties include, but are not limited to:
    1. Writing, editing, and managing various communications materials and projects as assigned.
    2. Aiding in organizing photography or video shoots for organizational events and projects.
    3. Conducting interviews as needed for communications materials and content.
  12. Supports organizational events by aiding in staffing and photography with travel as needed.
  13. Supports the strategic development goals of the organization.
  14. Consistently demonstrates a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to staff, volunteers, members and general public.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  2. Experience in content creation for social media platforms.
  3. Experience managing social media accounts for a non-profit or business.
  4. Experience using social media management software solutions.
  5. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for graphic and video creation (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier etc.).
  6. Capable of changing on-demand and innovating rapidly.
  7. Must be dynamic, creative, and innovative.
  8. Must be able to keep a flexible schedule and with the ability to work nights and weekends as the position requires it for event/program coverage.
  9. Outstanding written communications with attention to detail
  10. Demonstrate ability and interest in applying and developing new technical skills in the digital landscape.
  11. Must be comfortable working and engaging with youth.
  12. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of volunteers, vendors, community partners and the public.

PREFERRED:

  1. Advanced video editing and graphic design skills
  2. Photography skills
