Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and skilled Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This position is integral to our newly funded project aimed at addressing water affordability and advocating for equitable access to essential water services in St. Louis City.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media:

1. Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of water utility affordability issues, advocacy initiatives, and educational resources provided by CCM.

2. Content Creation: Create compelling content to educate consumers about their rights, current advocacy efforts, and relevant utility affordability issues.

3. Online Engagement: Engage with our online community and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

4. Collaboration: Work with the CCM team to ensure consistent messaging and address consumer needs and concerns.

5. Communications Strategy: Support the development of a communications strategy for the water utility affordability project.

6. Campaign Execution: Plan and execute social media campaigns and events to drive engagement and support for CCM water initiative.

7.   Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze social media metrics to optimize strategies  and report on the effectiveness of campaigns.

Community Engagement:

1. Community Engagement and Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and organizations. Facilitate meetings, discussions, and forums to gather community input and foster dialogue.

2. Outreach and Education: Develop and implement outreach strategies to inform and engage the community on relevant issues. Conduct meetings to build awareness and skills.

3. Advocacy and Campaign Development: Mobilize community members to participate in advocacy efforts. Collaborate with local organizations and coalitions to strengthen advocacy initiatives.

4. Policy and Strategic Planning: Work with community members to develop water policy recommendations and action plans. Meet with policymakers and stakeholders to advocate for the community’s interests.

5. Event Coordination: Plan and execute community events. Coordinate logistics, secure venues, and manage event promotion and participation. Ensure events are inclusive, accessible, and effectively address community goals.

6. Recording and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of activities, contacts, and progress. Prepare reports for funders, stakeholders, and community members.

Position Details: This is a full-time grant funded three-year project, based in St. Louis, Missouri. The Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Advocacy, and community partners to advance our utility affordability project from June 2024 to July 2027. Starting salary range is $48,000 – $52,000 annually.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social work, or a related field.

2. Community Experience: Experience working in St. Louis City communities with diverse groups and neighborhoods.

3. Professional Experience: 2-4 years of experience in social media management, community engagement, or advocacy work.

4. Social Media Expertise: Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices.

5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

6. Passion: A strong commitment to social justice, consumer rights, and advocacy.

7. Technical Skills: Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools.

8. Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

9. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with utility issues and affordability is a plus.

10. Commitment: Ability to commit at least 3 years to this project is a plus.
