Position Summary
The Senior Director of Gift Officer Development will report to the Executive Director for Strategy and Operations. This role is responsible for gift officer success by designing, delivering, and overseeing a learning and development program for the fundraising team.

The work will include collaborating with several teams in UA and partnering with the Executive Director for Strategy and Operations to identify training needs based on skill gap analysis, develop, and build courses, and create individual learning plans for development officers.

The Senior Director will create and foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork that celebrates outcomes, builds individual and team capacity, and ensures that WashU University Advancement is a preferred workplace.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a gift officer training program in partnership with Advancement Learning and the Executive Director for Strategy and Operations; this will include management of Plus Delta cohorts and tracking of all required sessions and completion rates.
  • Access gift officer learning and development needs. Provide coaching to gift officers when needed in partnership with managers.
  • Develop individual learning plans for gift officers.
  • Ensure all new gift officers are onboarded through the Gift Officer Academy program.
  • Manage feedback and continuous improvement of internal training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree.
  • Experience working in advancement in a university setting.
  • Experience organizing training and designing curriculum.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to set and meet personal and team deadlines with the flexibility to manage competing and changing priorities.
  • Confident and collaborative, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and must have the capacity to develop productive relationships at all levels, establish trust, and provide thoughtful counsel.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze, condense, and synthesize information provide accurate analysis and summaries.
  • Active manager and coach who can challenge a team to improve.
  • High standards of performance and great attention to detail.
    Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with databases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ten years of fundraising experience.
  • Five years of supervisory experience.
  • Four years of experience delivering training, designing curriculum or coaching fundraising staff.

Salary Range
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
