Position: Trauma Therapist – Telehealth

Reports to: Clinical Director

Status: FT Hourly

Hours: Flexible (May include evening hours)

Salary: $60,000 annually

Healing Action is a St. Louis-based non-profit organization providing trauma recovery services to adults who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation, including, but not limited to, sex trafficking, prostitution, pornography, and survival sex. Our services encompass trauma therapy, intensive case management, peer support, psychoeducation, and housing assistance.

Position Overview

The Telehealth Trauma Therapist will provide individual therapy to adults who have experienced human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. This role will focus on delivering services via telehealth, with 50% of the caseload located in rural communities across Missouri. The therapist will utilize trauma-focused and evidence-based treatment modalities to support survivors in their recovery journey. The therapist will report to the Clinical Director and work closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a therapeutic relationship with clients to assess and address complex trauma and its impacts.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy to adult survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking through telehealth platforms.
  • Implement evidence-based trauma modalities such as EMDR, TF-CBT, and somatic therapies (strongly preferred).
  • Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive, measurable treatment goals as part of their treatment plans.
  • Create and revise safety plans in collaboration with clients, ensuring a trauma-informed approach.
  • Provide psychoeducation on trauma, recovery options, and coping skills to promote healing.
  • Participate in supervision, service team meetings, and contribute to agency-wide discussions.
  • Administer pre/post assessments and evaluations to track the effectiveness of services.
  • Uphold ethical standards and trauma-informed best practices to ensure client safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field (e.g., Psychology, MFT).
  • Independent Missouri license to practice therapy (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist).
  • Proficiency in trauma-informed care and evidence-based trauma modalities, such as EMDR, TF-CBT, or somatic therapy.
  • Experience working with trauma survivors, particularly those affected by complex trauma, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a Class E License (if applicable).
  • Reliable transportation and automobile insurance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience providing therapy via telehealth, particularly to rural or underserved populations.
  • A background in working with survivors of human trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation.

Schedule and Salary:

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. Some evening and on-call responsibilities may be required. Salary is $60,000 annually, with mileage and expenses reimbursed monthly.
