St. Louis Community Foundation

Position Overview

This is a professional position with significant relationship, donor-service and stewardship responsibilities. It requires an understanding of the Foundation’s mission, goals and business model and a working understanding of the Foundation’s strategic initiatives. This position will monitor and maintain the Foundation’s cash management flow of funds for grant making services, assist in investment statement reconciliation, prepare various financial reconciliations as requested, and participate in various special projects as needed.

Reporting:

  • Reports to the Accounting Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review cash needs of our component funds daily.
  • Processes investment cash transfers, inflow and outflow of cash management requirements.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of our investment accounts and the foundation bank accounts.
  • Assist in the weekly processing of Accounts/Grants Payable checks.
  • Monitor and facilitate the migration to ACH payments for vendor and grant checks.
  • Maintains orderly files of account reconciliations, and other accounting documents and records.
  • Ongoing accounting database monitoring to ensure accurate detail in the General Ledger and sub-ledger modules.
  • Assists in preparation of financial reports for management, donors, and board as needed.
  • Assists Director of Accounting during annual financial audit and preparation of tax returns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, initially assisting in the facilitation of moving our banking relationship to a new bank.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A person in this position shall have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or an acceptable degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Proven ability to reconcile accounting data. Non-profit funding accounting experience and knowledge of automated accounting systems is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • A commitment to and proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain a complex load of commitments.
  • Cross-functional and detail-oriented approach to working in a team driven organization committed to community service.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and comfort in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability and agility to work with limited supervision.
  • Requires remaining in stationary position for an extended period; climbing stairs; filing, copying, and storing supplies; and up to 15 pounds occasional lifting.

Compensation and Benefits

The minimum salary for this position is $65,000.

Benefits include paid sick and vacation time after three months of employment, paid federal holidays, subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, a retirement account with employer contribution and match after one year of employment, paid parental leave, and other benefits.

Hours

37.5-hour work week. Office hours are 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, with some events outside this timeframe. We offer flexible schedule options for full-time employees in good standing after three months of satisfactory employment.
