Aspire Advocates for Behavioral Health

Aspire Advocates for Behavioral Health is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to improving the identification, treatment, and reimbursement of mental health and substance use services for children, teens, and young adults. We are currently working toward opening the St. Louis Recovery High School in Fall 2026. To support this initiative, we are seeking a part-time Outreach Specialist to help raise awareness, educate the community, and build strong referral pathways to the school.

Position Summary: 

The Outreach Specialist will play a critical role in community engagement and awareness efforts related to the launch of St. Louis Recovery High School. This individual will work to:

  • Raise awareness about the school’s opening with local schools districts and community organizations
  • Educate stakeholders on the student population the school is designed to serve.
  • Promote the value of referring eligible students to the recovery high school.
  • This position requires a proactive communicator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders—including school personnel, healthcare providers, parents, and youth—to ensure effective outreach and consistent referrals.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with local school districts, healthcare providers, youth organizations, and families.
  • Coordinate and participate in outreach events, presentations, and meetings.
  • Communicate the school’s mission and eligibility criteria clearly to potential referral sources.
  • Serve as a community ambassador for Aspire Advocates and the recovery high school initiative.
  • Track outreach activities and maintain accurate records of contacts and follow-ups.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience organizing and executing outreach or community engagement efforts.
  • Background in mental health and/or substance use recovery preferred.
  • At least one year of outside sales or consultative selling experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of health equity issues and the ability to target outreach to diverse communities.
  • Proven ability to build relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Marketing or a related field.

Location: Must be located in the Greater St. Louis area (remote and in-person)
