The Regional Business Council

General Function:

Work closely with the President and CEO, Council members, and colleagues to implement the mission of The Regional Business Council, with primary responsibilities consisting of the coordination and implementation of key RBC Workforce Development, Public Safety, and Philanthropy initiatives.

This Coordinator will execute detailed-oriented responsibilities requiring accuracy, focus, and a high degree of attention to customer service.  Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to successful project completion and engagement with both internal and external audiences. The RBC values a level of customer service that is both highly responsive and demonstrates a sophisticated knowledge of the business and education community and the St. Louis region.  The ideal candidate is quick thinking and action oriented, collaborative and desires to contribute, learn, and grow. A high degree of technical aptitude is also necessary for success in the position.

Duties/Assignments:

1. Responsible for creating project timelines and a monthly and yearly calendar of meetings and events to be approved and monitored by the President and CEO to ensure timely and smooth delivery of materials.

2. Assist in the preparation and distribution of meeting notices, agendas, minutes, arrangements, reservations, correspondence and mailings for RBC’s Committee meetings and events.

3. Facilitates communication and coordination for the RBC with workforce development, public safety, and philanthropy reform partners and investees, including local and state government agencies, regional education institutions and school districts, regional and state Chambers of Commerce, non-profit organizations including the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Better Family Life, and Civic Progress, among others.

4. Responsible for coordinating initiative Committee meetings (RBC United Way, Workforce Development, Public Safety, etc.) and special events (press announcements, school tours, Operation Clean Sweep Saturday events, etc.) which serve the needs of RBC members and its initiatives. Execute meeting follow-up as assigned by the President and CEO and committee leadership.

5. Assists the President and CEO with the organization of and communication with the RBC’s Workforce Development, United Way, and Public Safety Committees.

6. Monitors news items regarding issues and developments impacting the RBC’s overall agenda and assigned initiatives.

7. Work with assistants of RBC members, Workforce Development, United Way, and Public Safety Committees members, and the President and CEO to implement the RBC’s programs, initiatives, and related activities.

8. Communicate via written material to RBC members regular updates on assigned initiatives.

9. Coordinate RBC marketing efforts by building relationships with designers, vendors, and media representatives to position the RBC Brand.

10. Represent the RBC at outside forums and events as appropriate.

11. Provide support to staff coordinating both Member Services and other Committees as requested.

12.  Performs all other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.

Position Requirements:

Experience: 2-3 years’ member services and/or business experience required – proven experience in special events, program development and administrative tasks preferably in a civic or nonprofit organization.  Previous experience with high-level volunteers is essential. Interest and a working knowledge of Workforce Development, Public Safety, and Philanthropy in the St. Louis region is a plus.

Skills: Must have strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior executives and the public.  Must possess strong organizational skills and strong computer skills. The RBC values a level of customer service that is both highly responsive and demonstrates a sophisticated knowledge of the business community and the St. Louis region.

Judgement:  This position requires a strong special events and customer service orientation, as well as the ability to keep volunteers organized and on track.
