Development Manager – Grants & Partnerships

Position Overview

This position is a key member of the development team, responsible for securing institutional funding and strengthening relationships with corporate, foundation, and select donor partners. The Development Manager – Grants & Partnerships leads all grant activity while supporting donor stewardship, partnership development, and engagement efforts that advance the agency’s fundraising goals.

This role plays a critical part in both generating revenue and ensuring donors and partners are meaningfully engaged with the mission and impact of Food Outreach. We are excited to welcome a new team member whose compensation will include agency-paid platinum health

Essential Functions

Grants Management (60–65%)

  • Manage full lifecycle of foundation & corporate grants (LOIs, proposals, reports)
  • Maintain grants calendar and ensure 100% on-time submissions
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities
  • Align funding requests with program and strategic priorities
  • Coordinate with leadership on proposals and reporting
  • Track grant revenue pipeline (even if not in Raiser’s Edge directly)

Partnerships & Donor Stewardship (25–30%)

  • Corporate & Institutional Partnerships + Select Donor Engagement
  • Steward existing corporate and foundation partners beyond the grant (touchpoints,
    updates, engagement)
  • Support cultivation of new corporate partners and funding relationships
  • Assist in identifying and qualifying new donor prospects (research + early outreach
    support)
  • Coordinate donor meetings, site visits, and engagement opportunities
  • Prepare briefing materials and follow-ups for leadership

Donor Acknowledgment & Stewardship Systems (10–15%)

  • Draft and manage timely acknowledgment letters for all gifts (individual, corporate, and
    foundation as assigned)
  • Ensure consistent and high-quality donor thank-you process (48–72 hour turnaround goal)
  • Coordinate personalized stewardship touchpoints (ED notes, impact follow-ups, etc.)
  • Maintain acknowledgment templates and messaging consistency

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3+ years of experience in grant writing, institutional giving, or nonprofit fundraising
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling, clear, and persuasive grant proposals and donor communications
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously, with a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Experience researching and identifying new funding opportunities, including foundations
    and corporate partners
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and steward corporate, foundation, and donor partners effectively
  • Ability to support donor cultivation efforts, including preparing materials, coordinating meetings, and managing follow-up communications
  • Experience drafting donor acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications with
    a high level of accuracy and professionalism
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, program
    staff, and external partners
  • Ability to translate programmatic information into compelling funding opportunities and impact narratives
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, capable of working independently while contributing to team goals
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive donor and organizational information
  • Familiarity with donor databases (such as Raiser’s Edge) preferred, with the ability to work
    within established systems and processes

Salary Range:
$55,000 – $60,000

Position Time Schedule: This is a full-time and in-person position governed by personnel policies related to full-time staff. Candidates will periodically need to work on weekends and evenings related to Saturday Cook & Packs and fundraising events.

Line of Authority: This person is supervised and evaluated by the Director of Development.
