Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in building an outstanding and rapidly growing artistic organization.

The Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis is interviewing candidates for the second full-time position in the organization.  The new officer will serve either as the Director of Operations (reporting to the Executive Artistic Director) or as the Managing Director, depending upon the experience and skill level of the successful candidate.  This hire will enable the current Executive Artistic Director to focus on the artistic aspects of the organization.

TWSTL has enjoyed four remarkable years of critical success, with large and ever-growing audiences, no deficits, and an increasing financial surplus.  The organization was named Arts Startup of the year by A&E at the January, 2019 Awards Gala.  Its headline production for 2018, A Streetcar Named Desire, won seven St. Louis Theater Circle Awards.  Directors, actors, and scholars from around the country are seeking the opportunity to participate.  Many of the region’s most prominent leaders serve on the board, and financial support is provided by corporations such as Edward Jones, Emerson, and Boeing, as well as RAC, MAC, MHC, and A&E. Although the festival’s most concentrated activities are in May, it is now expanding to include artistic and educational activities throughout the year.

Core duties will include: managing the financial operations of the organization; overseeing all fund-raising and grant-writing activities (with strong support from the board and the Executive Artistic Director); coordinating the educational and community engagement programs; and managing contracts and documentation regarding venues, licensing, equipment, insurance, and personnel.   The successful candidate must have a proven record of professional success as a manager, a strong work ethic, outstanding social skills, and an understanding of and appreciation for the theater.  The annual salary will range from $40,000 (for Director of Operations) to $55,000 (for Managing Director), depending upon the experience and skill level of the successful candidate.

To apply, please send your résumé and a letter describing your qualifications for and interest in the position to Carrie Houk at carrie@twstl.org.  For more information, email her or call her at 314-517-5253.  Review of applications will begin on August 1, 2019, and will continue until the position is filled.
