Pregnancy Counseling is at the heart of everything we stand for at Bethany Christian Services.  Our Pregnancy Counselors establish relationships with community partners, hospitals, churches and other health services agencies in the area to provide support to women who find themselves in a situation with an unplanned pregnancy.  Our Pregnancy Counselors provide options and information to expectant parents, including referrals to support parenting and support and resources to parents considering adoption.   This job includes regular outreach to client referral sources as well as the provision of excellent counsel and encouragement to our expectant parents.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote Bethany’s pregnancy services and adoption programs through regular outreach efforts to faith communities and referral sources such as pregnancy care centers, hospitals, and community resource centers in the Omaha area.
  • Support, counsel, and advocate for client experiencing unexpected pregnancies.
  • Assist and advocate for client to successfully complete the life giving plan she chooses for her unborn child.
  • When appropriate, assist in adoption planning and legal release of the child.
  • Conduct periodic adoption group meetings for prospective families interested in adoption.
  • Conduct home studies for initially approved families.
  • Conduct placements of children with adoptive families and provide post-placement adoptive supervision.
  • Compose and submit various adoption related reports.
  • Availability to be on call as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BSW or BA/BS in a human services related field required; MSW or MA/MS in a human services field preferred.
  • Prior adoption/child welfare experience.
  • Excellent clinical and assessment skills.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Cultural Diversity Commitment.
