SUMMARY OF POSITION

The position provides critical program quality assurance, student/family support and engagement, alumni support, and collaborates with external partnerships development to advance the school’s mission.

  • Reports to the Director of Alumni & Community Partnerships
  • Full Time – Exempt Employee, 40+ hours per week
  • Employee at will position. Either employee or employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Positions directly reporting to this position are:

  • Practicum Students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

Alumni Relations (40%)

  • Provide individualized support to 8th and 9th grade alumni
  • Support alumni transition from 8th to 9th grade and provide supportive services and programming that ensure positive whole individual development
  • Increase alumni involvement and strengthen ties between City Academy and Alumni Families
  • Implement new alumni support programs and manage current programs, such as STRIVE & the Alumni Parent Committee.
  • Maintain alumni qualitative and quantitative notes in the database.

Collaboration, Parent, & External Affairs (40%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Community Service Providers to support an array of City Academy Family needs.
  • Ability to meet parents/caregivers where they are and assist in the development of goals to meet necessary needs for optimum family and student development.
  • Collaborate with Faculty and Admin to identify vital student and parent programming needs.
  • Strengthen, manage and cultivate new community partners committed to supporting programming identified through collaboration.
  • Manage and strengthen current Parent and Student Programming: Incredible Years, CAPS, HKE, etc.
  • Develop a plan for ongoing parent accessibility to needed resources.

Administrative Support (20%)

  • Support the Director of Alumni & Community Partnerships in the areas of administration and reporting needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with diverse populations;
  • Experience identifying and vetting community services and resources for ongoing and emergency needs;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – especially the ability to communicate and collaborate with middle and high school students and their families;
  • Persistence and organizational skills;
  • Ability to outreach and advocate on behalf of our students;
  • Strong writing and analytical skills;
  • Highly flexible in a fast moving and fun environment;
  • Independent thinker;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intense work environment and manage multiple projects at a time;
  • Familiarity with the St. Louis secondary school community and/or other independent secondary schools;
  • Ability to identify mental health concerns;
  • Master’s degree in Social Work.
